if you put a ze in a gs do u need an ecu or can you just take ur old engine out and put the new one in.

You could search, but.......you CAN use the K8 ECU, but it will run like crap. But it'll get you by till you get the money for the ZE ECU.

It depends on whether you want it to run or not. :idea: There are a couple different combos that seem to work well. Most common is ZE ECU and stock K8 VAF.
There are a ton of posts on this.
'93 GS sporting 31 ZE, 36 ECU, Millenia IM & TB, Beefed up tranny, Fidanza FW, CM Stage II-R, Al UDP, HS Headers, MF Hi-Flow CAT, 2.5" Piping, CAI, MGC Wires, MS Mounts, B&M SS, Bronzoils, SS B & C Lines, Brembos...more.
Oh yeah, I have a stock ATX 92 RS too.

1994, GS, KLZE, 67mm TB, LightFlywheel, Centreforce Stg 3 Clutch, CAI, KL36 ecu, B&M shortshifter, Solid poly mounts, lightweight Aluminum Cross memeber, 2.5 high flo cat, 2.5 all back, Tanabe Exhaust, optima battery, ZX2 HD tokicos, eibach prokit, black altezzas.....

dont forget the 2.5 (a-spec) ecu, and 2.5 (a-spec) vaf

I think this should read:

K8 ecu runs rich with the K8 Vaf;
K8 ecu runs best with the KL02 vaf off a probe
KL31 or KL36 runs best with the K8 vaf

Re the 2nd line, I think the ZE ECU actually expects a "K8" VAF, so that's what it works best with.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)
