protege motor swap?
I was just wondering what are all the parts from the protege do I need to do this and what parts from my '95 RS do I keep? I am trying to get the DOHC 1.8L 4cyl Protege for the swap around '93 or so.
Re: protege motor swap?
For the most part its a strait swap.
to keep things easiest and runnign best i would do
ecu
wireing harness
tranny
axels
motor
get a new clutch if its a stick
Personally try to find a front end clip.. i got one for 750 usd

front clip would be a good way of doing it simplify many thing in the swap. I would have gone on that road for my friend mx-3 if i had not had my old pro 1.8 dohc laying around. I just use the engine for the swap the rest his all his stock precidia rs 94 except for intake and exhaust manifold the rest all fit on the engine but it's not straight forward.
Re: protege motor swap?
Does anyone have any pics of a protege motor in a MX-3? I'd love to see how it looks and such.
-Cybin

Re: protege motor swap?
Damn it looks like such a nice clean install. No tubes running everywhere and such. The protege motor is also much better looking then the sohc motors. Not to menchen the added 40hp.
I bet with proper mods you could get 150hp down to the wheels with a BP motor. That's more then the V6 1.8L and some 2.5L V6 swaps.
Add some nitrous and shake well....
-Cybin

Re: protege motor swap?
The motor turbos as well as the b6, its a whole diffrent world though, yes 150 would be easy to get to though.
There is a dyno at the dragstrip i goto every night i kinda wanna see what i am putting out before i starting doing a lot of mods.

Re: protege motor swap?
How well does it drive? Is the power like night and day or just a healthy inprovment?
Did you use the same gear shifting rods (The ones going from the shifter to the tranny)
Which axles did you use?
Which motor mount did you replace?
How'd you do the TPS plate?

Re: protege motor swap?
not to night and day but a health step up..
As for the rest of the questions EVERYTHING including the wire harness was swapped in from the protege
