really hot engine.

Post by Casino »

i doubt this is the norm.

my egine gets really really damn hot after driving, like it burns you even after waitng almost two hours before workign on it. the temp gauge reads normal. ive tried redline water cooler it helps but not all that much. also there is always hot air moving through my vents not a lot but just enough to heat the car up nicely. i know air circulation is normal but this seems a bit odd. any ideas ? :werd:

Have you ever thought that maybe mazda wanted it to run that hot? If your temp is reading fine, I wouldn't really worry about it. You could take out you thermostat if you live in a warm year-round area. That will keep you engine hella cool. However, you sacrifice the luxury of a hot heater.

that is just how the mx-3 motors are 4cyl and v6!! if you want your engine to cool off faster and run a little cooler, think about hood vents or scoop!! I have a 5 vents hood and it cools my engine down really fast!! But your caris running fine if the gauge is at normal!!

thats how all motors are. Typical internal combustion engines run at 180-220 degrees fahrenheit.

Seeing how they are 100% hunk of 200+ lb metal, either cast iron or cast aluminum, it is going to take awhile for such a large peice of metal to cool completely down by itself.

That is why you hear strang noises when you stop driving a car. Clicking sounds coming from underneath of it caused by the cooling of the hot metal.

You should see out volkswagen Jetta TDI...that damn deseil engine stays hot for 6+ hours. In the winter it will heat the garage if you come back from a drive.

You should try seeing how things cool down in texas. Its midnight, and its 80f(26c) outside. Usually when we need things to cool down to do work we lay a fan across the motor and leave it there for a bit. Big plastic ones are okay but watch out for realllly hot things ;) .

The temp gauge on your cluster is usually inaccurate though. If you want a real reading you either have to install your own gauge or just use a infered thermometer to get a reading. As long as you gauge doenst go above half way though your fine.

It is actually idel for the manufactur to push the internal temp of the motor up. There are a lot of products that like to push the line between hot and overheating, the only downside is when something does go wrong its usually does damage before most people know whats going on.

I have proven that having the car too slow in timing will heat up the car.

Advancing the car will minimize heating problems.

But I am not sayin that is the solution to your car, just what I have noticed from mine.
