I took the liner off the hood, then cutout a small section of one of the supports under the hood so the IM does not hit anymore. Plus I spaced the hood up with a couple of washers on both sides (actually made the hood flush with the top of the fenders). Left the liner off, no need for it really.

Thanks for the info on the BBK. I see you have nice 15" wheels, but the solution may be to go up to 16" wheels... that should solve your clearance issue...

Later,
Tim
Ah ok I will be sure to do that. I just cant wait to get my replacement hood. One of my only goals with theis BBK was for it to clear 15" rims. I dont want to get rid of my MS-01´s.......to rare and hard to find

Hey thanks alot guys. I cant wait to bolt these up for real and get a test run of them on the street and possibly the track in a few weeks. Im still sorting out a few engine issues.

Looks great btw
lol I actually didnt think of that. That may be crazy enough to work. I would of tried it but i already posted the box back friday so i could get another set. I wish i would have seen the RX7 set up first though I would of went that route.
marcdh wrote:Nice brakes! Are they nice and light too? Aluminium top hats and calipers I assume.
They are bigger. The calipers and rotors BUT surprisingly it was around the same weight as the OEM stuff when I had it off give or take a kilogram or 2. One of my worries is that the BBK was going to add alot of weight but no

So after spending at least 100USD on rear endlinks over the years I finally created my own KULLUMI-LINK Brand end links (patent pending) cost me 13 dollars

Nice looking set up but... Glad to see you still have some fire in you for building and keeping the car..

The JP motorsports rear trailing arms are get.. He usually has to make them when you order them but it doesn't take to long.. If you need a rear sway bar tab though, only 1 arm will be the gold anodized one.. The other 1 will be steel..

The heim joints for the rear sway bar look good.. I used the same set up.. you'll need them for the JP motorsports trailing arms.. All though word of caution.. the cheep heim joints like that wear out pretty quick.. After a years worth of driving a couple of mine are worn and just starting to get loose... They will last me for the rest of this year, but they are starting to get noisy when going over bumps... For how cheap they are to replace every couple of years though I am not worried about it..

When I did my front nad rear heim joints I used the higher queality PTFE lined ones. I've had them on for about 4 years now and they're still solid.

what exectly is the difference? in new to these custom fab parts.. this could also be used to make custom front links to use the 25mm zx2 front sway bar...

PTFE lined ones are more expensive. But they also use higher quality metals that make them last longer. PTFE also happens to be a type of material that is self lubricating, this helps to keep the ball sockets from wearing out.

Most cheap ones like shown in the picture are non serviceable, so you can't grease them, and they are not self lubricating so the end up wearing out faster.. Sometimes its ok, depends on the application. In my case I can buy the male cheap rod ends for $6 each and so far they are just starting to wear out after a year of being in service.

If you look in the catalogues of the companies that make them there are several different quality levels of these things. I used "PTFE lined, General Aviation, Precision" @ about $16ea.

Aurora Bearings

They do rust eventually and over time the bolt has bonded to the inner bore of the ball, but it's still tight as a drum. I recommend coating them liberally with a good quality grease.

Oh man i wish I had a good one for ya.

I have been chasing demons out of this terrible KLZE i was cursed with. But with the bad luck with this chassis I shouldnt be surprised. I have a cam gear spring tap so ill fix that at the end of the month. For now i have been looking into my oil cooler housing leak. Some say its the oil pressure switch. Im also told if it was the oil cooler thing i would need the engine out to put a new gasket between it and the engine. Also my idle is still weird but not surging its only high for a few minutes but only only once in awhile so i havent really been sweating it. Im still glad I swapped over now though. The car has power for days. I love the sound of the MS back box on the ZE and no longer am i left in the dust every stop light. Im still buffled mazda put the K8DE in the MX3. I mean they could of at least put the K8ZE. That was a pretty decent engine.

I sent my calipers back. I still have all the other brake stuff though. Turns out Ceika messed my order up. They didnt put the name on the caliper for starters. I was going to put a "mazdaspeed" decal on it but i thought ill just leave them plain. THEN I seen the caliper pistons were aluminum and not stainless steel like i wanted (better corrosion protection). When i contacted the company they said i may have got the wrong calipers period. So i should get my calipers back next week sometime I hope. Im just glad for exchanges you dont have to pay shipping at all. So im not to mad about not putting my BBK on just yet.

Also just changed out the wheel bearings. I had to replace both hubs though. Good thing there is like 400 escorts at every pick and pull in existence. I had to replace the hub and axle because on one side the spindle axle nut was not coming off at all. I had no torch and autozone was starting to ask questions when i kept coming back with broken breaker bars. I at least got one nut off. When i did my swap with josh and wagZE we couldnt get either side off. :confused2:

The other hub i took in to have them press the bearing out and to my surprise it broke the machine!!  The bearing was rusted into the hub so bad it sort of fused together. The mechanic not knowing the hub was from a car that was in the harsh new jersey winters or the salty europe roads and back and forth the salty atlantic a few times kept trying and trying. He had alot of heart but now he has no press.....

So i had to get 2 new hubs from a rustless escort. I should of known a simple bearing job with this car would not be easy. Not job ever goes as planned with this thing

I have washed the car religiously since i have had it but like most MX3´s they are neglected and beat up most of the time before any of us got ours unless we got it new....so problems arise...

My mazdaspeed interior is temporally on hold. :crying: :crying: :crying: it sucks because i was JUST about to get some black sports seats but i have patience im sure another set will be ready for me when i am.

I have to get the wife another car and we are moving closer to my school as this car is not the most reliable and with me going to school full time money has gotten tight for a little while. I may get a part time job to buy car stuff....im that dedicated

Your oil cooler leak is from the water housing. Just replace the entire oil cooler housing. You may have to pull the cooling fans off to get better access to the bolts and hoses. Whenever someone tells you need to do something to the car, research it. Google if you must.

It's 3 12mm bolts that hold it against the block (and the feed/return of coolant). Get a new gasket (about $9) from Ford or Mazda.

Get a cooler housing from any junkyard. Those types of leaks are rare. Just make sure you get one that has the water jacket, the later 626 and/or Millennia ones skipped water cooling and just have the filter mount.

Re: kulluminati777's MX3 seen round the world

Post by kulluminati777 »

Just wanted to update and let everyone know whats up with the car lately.

I got my new custom plates and LOVE em. I am glad of the idea of debaging the whole car and only leaving on my mazdaspeed badges/decals and putting the name of the car on the license plate.

Image

Also a little scenic pic to show the plate on the car

Image

Here is a teaser of what i have actually been doing

Image

A few hints.

My mazdaspeed bumper was smashed into by some d bag at a car show. So i have been repairing the bottom part at school just waiting on them to get resin and hardener. I figure its free so i can drive around with no bumper till next week. Although i have had a few over heating issues that have exposed the fact i need new caps. I was going to recreate the original look of the front but have instead gone with repairing it so i can mount a front lip down the line to lower the front of the car visually. Just like this red car form the german forums

Image

I also have a few hard to find MX3 parts I am mounting to the front. I bought european light covers so ill fit those on. I have also bought a round Mazdaspeed bonnet badge like u see in the catalogs that i will stamp on the front hood and I have decided to change my "tinted" front blinkers for some clear ones for a different look.

The last mod i might do later on is cut into the hood and put a GT500 hood vent in it. I have had a photo shop done and i LOVE it BUT i would only do it if diezzel doesnt get me the hood we traded for which i dont see happening anyway...

Will look EXACTLY like this but i little more toward the front of the car between the VC and the Radiator...what do you guys think?
