Re: MrMazda92's '92 GS "Tracy" - ChalkBoard Paint

Post by MrMazda92 »

I finished sanding 100% today, it took pretty much the entire day to get it just right... I've got about an hour of daylight left, and I am using it to completely clean the outside of the car.

First thing tomorrow I'm taping off glass, rubber, plastic, etc. and spraying 2 coats of primer.
While that dries, I plan to vacuum the carpet and door pockets, wipe down all glass/vinyl/plastics, and piece my trunk trim back together.

Later on in the day I'll be hitting it with 3 solid coats of ChalkBoard...

So far the Mini Sides, Mudguards, and GS spoiler are primered and painted. Hopefully I'll get the rest finished in time tomorrow.

I did manage to swap out my damaged passenger side door for my spare(Barney Purple, until tomorrow!), as well as the front speakers and door cards. I also put an auto-down power window switch in.

I've de-badged the rear of the car, and will only be running the forward diamond badge from here on out.

It'll be my first meet with the new paintjob, so I plan on making it look good. That being said, don't forget to bring your chalk!

Well hopefully it'll turn out as well as Lynch's car, The moment I saw it I was sold on the idea. Imagine that, the guy who couldn't pick a paintjob... actually picked one!

Will you be there on the 16th Mark?? If so, please bring that waterpump with you! I need it for the new '93 project, and I keep forgetting about it. :P

I'll try to pick up a bucket of chalk before I drive up to Washington... We're up to 10+ people for the meet, right? I have enough gas money to actually go for a cruise.

Dude you'll love it. Go to WalMart, get a bucket of chalk for $5, invite a pile of people over for a BBQ and a car decorating party. The more alcohol involved the better. :freak:

Haha, I do love it so far! I haven't chalked it yet, since I need to respray the driver's side door, roof, and half of the hood. :freak:

Still, It'll be chalked up before you all know it! I'll upload pics of the finished product, since I'm always too lazy to upload work in progress updates!

I ended up spending a few hours messing with my PnP MegaSquirt today, and it's pretty awesome!

I'm especially enjoying that TunerStudio is far more straight forward than I previously thought! The base map that came with my ECU isn't bad either, I didn't drive it on the base map(of course), but it idled smoothly and I was able to mess with a few things while watching the responses in the system.

The one thing I thought was weird was the reading for my TPS, it kept giving a negative reading the entire time the system was engaged... It was ~ - 476 or so, which I failed to understand? I set my TPS properly, so I'm inclined to think that the problem lays with my understanding of TunerStudio itself.

So my registration/tags are due this November, and I've been thinking about custom plates for a while now. I've narrowed it down to 2 candidates, and I'm wanting some input!

I'm limited to 6 characters maximum, with a single space allowed.
The candidates so far are:
NOM NOM - Honda Eater ;D
BCZ RCR - Because Racecar

It's highly likely that NOM NOM is taken, so N0M N0M is my backup, I guess.

I'm open to other suggestions as well, so let's hear them!

I like BCZ RCR
The guy I bought my first MX3 from (in WA) stole my plate idea "ZOOMX3". I thought I was witty as fu#% with that. And now I can't have it...
Wings on an MX3? What are you thinking?
