door weatherstripping

Post by mikeinaus »

has anyone bought these recently? i found some old threads saying mazda was charging under $50 each side and was wondering if current prices should be accurate to that? i called a local mazda dealer and they want $100 a side. i know stock is probably running low for them but wouldnt they charge less as less people are driving these cars?

No, until they go into a discontinued status...

If you have a part number use these guys (cheapest OEM mazda parts I have found): http://www.onlinemazdaparts.com/

What about a junkyard?

Most of the ones I've seen in junk yards are usually trashed. And id love to get back that nice "thud" sound u get with newer cars. I tried searching for that thread with all the weatherstripping part numbers yesterday but I couldn't find it. If I can comeup with the number ill give that site a look. Thanks moon.

Hey mate, the last post on that link says:
onlytrueromeo wrote:Just to update, the door seal is a piece of molding or something, the door weatherstrip is the actual rubber piece that goes all the way around.
So I take it that you're after the weather strip...
When you say it goes all the way round, is that the little flappy bit that goes around the outside of the door, starting just below the window & going all the way round from there? Does anyone know if these seals are the same part number for JDM Presso's as with US MX3s?

it arrived today and it was totally worth it. my drivers door feels brand new. i can slam the door and its not even loud, just a nice thud. anyone know any tips for keeping the weatherstripping in good shape? other then not slamming the door that is. i think the main problem is the weatherstripping looses its rigidity over time and stops cushioning properly. my new set was quite a bit "puffier" then my old one.

Awesome, so glad to hear it was worth it :)
I don't think its really possible with rubber - it's a perishable material, and it always deteriorates with age. I think extremes of heat/cold probably don't help it last any longer, but with a car, it's hardly possible to protect it from that...
