Buying something with a 5.0L or more.

or...

a BPT swap.... built BPT swap would be better. I don't think anyone has found the limits of the crank yet, and there are 400 HP BP's out there.

you'll have issues working with the 96 RS. If you don't know what I'm talking about..... you will. Our wiring is totally different and so is the ecu. The BP swap is doable, but I think you'll have to replace your harness in order to do so.
I decided to boost mine, lots of options out there

Before you do anything, have a goal and plenty of cash.

We all want to be fast and look cool. Cool changes but fast never does.

If you're talking about making a motor any DECENT amount faster, the harness should be the least of your worries...

Is it true that the crank is forged?

The BP crank?

It is said to be made of Invincible.

Yes the bp.
Wiki says.. this engine was dubbed BP-ZE and featured a forged crankshaft.

Umm I dont know about that... both my BP's and the 3 others I have worked on were all cast... the FE DOHC features a forged crank. I wouldn't rely on wiki too much anyone can post and correct things on it.

NA PB Crank

Not a BP but a forged crank

I guess that it may be possible for the BPZE motor to feature a forged crank but I have not found this information anywhere.

OP:

If you are only looking to add an extra 30hp+, find a B6T turbo manifold, IHI VJ14 to go with the manifold. Upgrade the injectors and Fuel pressure regulator, plumb in a front mount intercooler and call it a day. all in all should be 500 to a grand, and upward of 30 to 50 bolt on reliable WHP. The B6 will take it. you could throw on a Greddy Emanage or some kind of piggyback on there to, to maximize the output. The B6DE tends to run about 150ish to the wheels with this setup, where the B6T only yields about 135. about The wiring on the 96' isn't that bad...

KLDE
KLZE
KLDE + Turbp

Best and all bolt-in options without going custom.
