Please let me know if i am missing something in my parts list:

95-98 protege ecu/wiring/intake/distributer
91-94 block/head for the oil squirters and i read somewhere that the 95-98 heads have less aggressive cams.

my current mx3's transmission/flywheel/afm
new clutch water pump timing belt.
will i need a different exhaust manifold or can i use mx3's exhaust manifold for now?

My mx3 is a 94 It has 170k miles on it, and i smell burnt oil every time i get off the highway. i figured because i need a new motor why not get a one with more power. I have not seen any lower millage bp's when ever i have been to the local junkyards so i figured i will rebuild one.

the old gen 92-94
2nd gen 95-98
new gen 99+

the 2nd gen have VICS, unlike the 1st, and also has OBDII, however the old gen (plug and play to SOHC MX-3) have oil squirters in the block.

so theoretically, you want a 1st gen block, new gen head, and a 2nd gen intake manifold.

i could be wrong, i have been wrong before
the old (1st gen) 1.8L dohc bp motors do have vics.

all escort gt's have vics and they range from 1991-1996
