will it fit?

Post by kab-rst »

i bought a set of mags, like this model
http://www.driftnamiperformance.com/Mon ... 4100bz.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
but in 16''x7'' 35 offset

now i'm looking for tires for this summer and i want to go as large as possible,
i know 225 can fit on 17'',but on 16?
i'm looking for comething like 225/50R16, do you think it'll fit my car if i'm currently running kyb gr2/technic spring(1.6''drop, 4 years old, so somewhat lower)

i need your advices!

225 has nothing to do with them being 16"s or 17"s it's the width of the tire, and yes they'll fit 7"wide rims just fine, you can even squeeze em on 6.5" wides if you really wanted to.

i know it's for a larger tire, i mean,25 on 15x6.5 apears to be quite near of the shock tower
225/50/r16nwill fit the mag, i know, but will the wheel rub?

The 35mm offset will help you a little with clearance. I have 225/50/15s on a 15x6.5 with a 40mm offset and it's real close. The .5" difference in width moved my effective centerline out a little to account for the high offset. The centerline of your 7" rim with a 35 offset will probably sit a few millimeters further in than mine and reduce your lateral strut clearance.

Now, the overall height of your rim/tire may come close to the strut perch as well. My 225/50/15s are really close to hitting and you have an inch larger combo that would result in an additional 1/2" clearance needed up top.

I hope that wasn't too confusing. It gets pretty technical sometimes.

All I know is 225 wouldnt even come close to fitting on my 17's! They were 7.5 wide and were 215/45/17 you could slide a piece of paper in between the strut and tire but that was it! My new rims are 7 inch wide and it fits much better but still a 225 would not fit, and my 215's rub when I am at full turn.

now, i'm shopping tires for a while, and i founded TONS of 215 55 16, afordable, almost new,and the seller in question isin't far at all(mags were at 400km)

the problem is, lot's of ppl tells me that 215 55 will rub due to the height clearence

so, will 215 55 16 fit my mx-3, i have kyb struts with technic springs,1.6 drop front/rear,4y/old, so somewhat lower, anyone tried the same kind of setup on their mx3?

the 215 45 16 are twice the price and are hard as hell to find(i dont want to pay 500$ for new tires...)i had some before and cant really figure why it would rub, since my 215/45 were far from having clearance issuses

thank you for you awnsers and please pardon the typos
