1996 v6 = no way it will run the KL31 ECU despite you convert your OBD2 harness with a OBD1 one (1992-95)

Just run the stock ECU and use MSD window switches (RPM activated switches) for VRIS. The OBDII MX3s use the same injectors as the KL's, which is the main reason people swapped or chipped OBDI MX3's.

But why wouldn't a KL31 ECU work with an OBDI harness? It has the same pinout and everything.

the KL36/31 works fine on OBDI cars. Its just that even with that ecu the vris points are still off.

Like Pascal said, the best option is to run your OBDII ecu with some window switches or a VR-tuner (if you can find one). The main point for you is to get the car running, and running fairly well before you start worrying about making massive power. Just get the damn motor in and get it running and then go from there.

Whoops, disregard that. I was looking up injectors on ebay a while ago and saw that MX3 injectors fit the MX6 and 626, but I didn't check the year, they fit the first generation cars with their 2.2L I4.

In that case, you'll likely have to swap in an OBDI harness and get a probinator ECU chip.

Oh...well, K8, KJ and KJ injectors are swappable too, FYI.

I'm pretty sure there is a such thing as a OBDII KLZE ECU. KL62 or something like that.

You can always try an OBDII MX6 ECU with KL02 VAF. That would go way better than a K8 ECU.

Or you can swap wiring loom and use KL31/36.

I give up. I've given you all the info you need. Your just complicating things for yourself. Go ahead and swap the Harness. Go through all that work, chip a ECU whatever then when you have problems up the hoop and your trying to figure out the multitude of issues you have I'll be cruising around with my ZE just purring away enjoying life glad I didn't do something as unnesassary as harness swaping. My final word.

I believe it's been mentioned that they supposibely use a different pin-out.

Talk to Daninski, he's got plenty of info inregards to the OBDII swap.
