How did you run your intercooler piping?
Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of their intercooler piping?
I am wondering how you got it around the front of the car to the engine bay... cause in my car there is a bracing bracket in the bottom corners that is hindering the area of where my piping is wanting to go.

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
I prolly did it the weirdest. I angled the radiator back and went up and over it. It was a b*tch and ive gone thru two radiators cuz it had a tendancy to rub thru....I might redo it to make it have more clearance....Might even take a few rows out of the top of the radiator.Shades wrote:Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of their intercooler piping?

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
Hey Jarid, long time no talk!
Yeah that is a wierd way to do it... with my big GT3071R I don't have room to do that. After I fabbed up my manifold, I have about 1/4" between the turbo and the rad.
It's just that if I go underneath and around like the rest of the people, I'm gonna have ground clearance issues... unless I remove that bracket in the corners, but I'm sure Mazda put that there for a reason.

Do you have a picture of the bracket? I had to remove one of my tow hooks the first time I made pipes for my car.
My current piping is run like this

Yeah sorry... that's what I meant... did any of your remove your tow hooks. I guess it's okay to remove them, and that it won't disturb the intergrity of the front end clip?

I can't believe all the people removing the front bumper supports. Not safe for one.. and no coverage if you get into a smash.

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
You installed a front mounted bar just so you could mount your intercooler?... that's crazy styles!

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
You can make the pipping in the both sides of the radiator. you only need the an intercooler of 24" total lenght like im use.

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
There are some really nice setups out there. Maybe a little overkill. It's better to use a smaller intercooler and keep the front bumper/support. My intercooler is half the size of most of these, yet will handle 22 psi and more than 300hp. Most of the intercoolers shown will probably be fit for 500+hp. I've got nothing against cool air, but we should try to keep things safe and legal. You will not have any insurance coverage in the event of a collision... you are also waaay more likely to be injured without a primary safetly structure. It's all well and good that you can give an example of how to route the piping and the intercooler placement.... but maybe these are good examples of how not to do things.

Re: How did you run your intercooler piping?
used to run it through the driver side hole behing the headlight
now i'm changing the rad/fans, so i'm re-routing the piping straight from the cooler to the TB
invested in some bling and t-clamp
