GS Transverse Member on RS
So I got myself a Transverse Member from a GS with the intention of putting it on my RS since I heard my RS should be predrilled and it will bolt on. Underneith my car today I could not find any predrilled holes that it would fit into. I have a 93, is it possible that it is not predrilled on all RS's? I looked at the online shop manual and it shows where it should be mounted (r-26) and I cannot find it. The FAQ v6 to 4cyl said it should fit up. Anyone have any pictures of it mounted or of the holes? Thanks!

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
None of the RS crossmembers have the holes drilled for the brace, only the v-6 models.

I am confused because...
(taken from v6->4cyl swappable parts FAQ)
(taken from v6->4cyl swappable parts FAQ)
Transverse Member:
This stamp steel crossmember basically ties the bottom end of the front suspension together. Again Neuspeed and Lightspeed sell a lower front strut bar kit to the Honda owners. (big bucks for this to - no surprise here) the Factory crossmember may not look as cool as a Neuspeed or Lightspeed kit but serves the same function and is a whole lot cheaper. The holes are pre-drilled and tapped on the MX-3RS but Protg and Escort owners may have to break out the drill and a 12mm tap.

...I too pulled a v6 transverse member from the junkyard thinking it would just bolt on to my rs. I never actually checked if it would though.

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
The FAQ needs to be re-written then because that is not true about the RS model.

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
Not sure if I am lost on this, but what holes are we talking about? Why are you trying to pot a v6 transverse member on your RS. are you doing a v6 swap or something?

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
My 95 RS has the holes predrilled and I have the crossmember waiting to be installed, just before my engine and tranny go in.

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
I don't think my 93 has holes predrilled, maybe it was only 94 and 95's? If you get a chance when you install can you snap a picture? That would be very helpful!

I will take a couple pics for you. When I get a chance, I will take a pic of the holes too.

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
I noticed the same thing when we were working on custommx3's RS... no pre drilled holes, thus we were going to swap the subframe since he is doing a 4cyl > v6 swap.

Re: GS Transverse Member on RS
Ya it sux you have to swap the entire sub frame if you want the holes. Atleast in the 95 RS. NO way Im drilling those.
