Could worn motor mounts cause car to shake at standstill?

Post by irocthaDOHC »

when i start my car, it shakes and vibrates like crazy at idle (standing still) could worn motor mounts be the cause of this??i know i need new drive axles, but i don't know why the car would still shake when it's just idleing...

Yes, that would certinally cause that, also bad timing or spark can cause that

is it idling at the proper speed? a slow idle can cause the car to vibrate as well.

Look at the engine when it's idling and see if it's shaking!

Thanks for your responses
The engine chugs pretty badly, it seems to be missing..i guess (like you said) due to timing or spark, i'll try new plugs and wires first

Engine doesn't appear to "shake" other than the chugging
