B6de,boosting it
I have a 1.6l dohc 97 with 118.000klm about 73750miles(at really good condition).I already have a k03 t25 (from a seat leon cupra) and a fmic big enough.Assuming that lowering the compression at about 8.0:1 how many bar/psi should i run it,an how many would be the horsepower?

No idea what kind of power you could make, but I am / was running a T3 super 60 turbo on my SOHC 1.6l 4cyl stock (North American) motor, at 9psi. The only problem I had was alot of blow-by...basically shooting lots of oil out of the breather filter on the valve cover. Other than that, the motor ran 9psi fine for years, could probably handle more, maybe?

I run around 11psi on a standard compression B6 motor, it is all about tuning, fuel and ignition control.
I have seen the miata guys run 15/16 psi on these B6 motors with proper engine management and tuning.

from what I understand from reading on this board, the dohc will handle 10psi with minor mods(fuel manage, timing retard etc) you won't have to lower the compression at all, 9:1 will be fine.
200hp will be easy, and 230 will be not too hard.
good luck!

a friend of mine has a lil 94 mazda miata with the 1.6 b6de with a setup simluair to mine.. all the good stuff
what i don't get is that lil b6 can take a beating. at one point i was at 25psi making 334rwhp on a gt32 turbo... now his on a 57trim turbo at 15psi number are not known at this point.
i been through 3 bp's 5 trannys and he still has the damn b6 going on for a year. what gives that b6 can take a beating.

Re: B6de,boosting it
so i bought the parts i wanted (garrett tb02 47trim turbo , 48trim comp),fmic, emanage blue(already installed) with injectors and advance harness,323 gtx injectors and now im up to buy wideband, maybe zeitronix.
besides i decided to lower the static compression to 8,5:1 with a metallic head gasket so i can be sure.
you think 1bar will be safe? and also, before or after the turbo should i put the maf?

Re: B6de,boosting it
get rid of that POS e-manage blue. sell it get rid of it or get ur money back..
your better off with a Mega squirt II than a e-manage why..
a e-manage is still a piggy-back and a MS-II is a standalone system.
compression wise u are fine unless u keep ur e-manage
but hey its ur setup..
can't stress how important a EMS if vital to a turbo setup. a piggyback just won't cut it.

Re: B6de,boosting it
you guys need to start giving these motors some credit.
My b6t/de handled 18 psi like a champ with a vj17/14 hybrid, with a fairly aggressive timing map (i only had the disty retarded 2*) and safe air fuel ratios

Re: B6de,boosting it
Now the car is almost done.
another issue that worries me is when i have boost in closed loop situations. The ecu has an aggressive closed loop session,so i will defenately have a problem and i need an o2 clamp?

Re: B6de,boosting it
well, you are going to need a wastegate, turbo manifold, wideband o2, better fuel pump, bigger injectors, intercooler, and piping, and a good EMS, and a few other small things.... good luck.
