My first ZE question!!!

Ok so some of you know that I went out and bought Mnemonics SE ZE in atlanta this weekend and most of you dont. this is my first ZE so Im excited. Among some of the problems it has I noticed that sometimes it would idle at 1500 and go up to 2000 and fall back, rise up fall back etc. My k8 did that and I found out it was a vacuum hose I believe. anyway my point it that the ZE does it sometimes but not others and normally ends up falling back to the 1500 or down around 800 so Im not sure if its the same thing or even where to look. The search seams to be acting funny and Im sure there is info on this but I figured Id go ahead and ask. Thanks for the input.

p.s. Could this be caused by the lightweight flywheel he....I have on there?

if it only does sometimes maybe its a stuck throttle cable or something. when it's jumping, pop your hood up and press the throttle lever back against the stop screw, see if that helps. if the throttle cable is tight enough, you can stick your foot under the gas pedal and pull it up.

mine did the same thing and it was the cable.

make sure the cable is adjusted properly and spray some wd40 or soemthing in it and make sure it moves freely. Or make sure the TPS is adjusted properly.

I had this issue of random idle for a while... it finally went away after I adjusted the TPS by the book, and set my idle adjustment screw correct.

What mooneggs said. I've had thesame problem.

You could also try to possition you vaf in another way. Thisone caused problems in my car.

I had this problem a few years back and found the large black intake hose with the ribs on it had some cracks. When the motor would heat up it woud relax and seal them better than it was cold.

If the TPS or cable didnt solve the problem, I would check your intake system for leaks.

I did adjust tps and idle air screw the morning of, making sure it was ready to for you. I never had an issue with it going from 1500 to 2000 and back down before. I can only think a vacuum line has come loose on it.

The only idle issue it ever had was after getting on it, it would idle at 1500 rpms for a few mins then drop back down, sometimes i would just tap the gas slightly and it would drop down. My Kf did this as well and just figured it was just due to getting on it.

Is the idle bouncing up and down or just sticking at 1500k-2k?

it shouldn't be anything serious just an adjustment somewhere.

lol appreciate the props to in the garage Cant say I dont miss her, but we're already getting ideas over here for a new toy :)


Oh and i guess i should of told you the cars Name, since its bad luck to drive a car with no name, not sure how the rules transfer when selling a car but her original name is unfortunetly Sparkles lol i could never get people to call her anything else lol

Thats better than the barney mobile! It was after I was going 80 down the interstate for like and hour and it stayed up there and then fell back after awhile. Nothing major I just wasnted to ask to get some input.

if you don't feel like adjusting anything just hit your rear defroster switch and it should drop the rpms by about 400 :shock: :o it should even it out nicely too :)

this was a quick fix I found one day sitting at a red light and it was going crazy LOL - it's like an idle adjustment switch :D

if its just idling high after running it thats normal, it will drop down, if its bouncing constant like going from 1500 to 800 1500 to 800 1500 to 800 constant thats a problem
