Koni Adjustable Inserts - Damping Rate? All Handling Info?

Post by Tommy D »

Hello Guys, i have Dropzone Coilovers (modified correctly to work safely as standard kit was pointless)

I also have Koni 15 point Adjustable inserts (not top adjustable - sucks) The Spring rates are rear 350lb and front 450lb

Has anyone experimened for a good handling setup as to adjust the damping rate you have to fully depress the shock and twist the hydraulic rod. As this would be time consuming to do has anyone already done it for optimum handling. What would you guys recomend?

Rear Link bar too? ARB's? I have used the search but confused myself. So many people do many different things, what mods are gimmics and what works?

I have stripped out my ZE and woud also like a nice chunky polished rear strut brace, who makes the sexiest one?

Many Thanks, Tom 8)

Where did you get 15 point adjustable Koni`s for the Mx3?
The ones that are listed on Koni`s site, is 5 step adjustable only.

I`m running on the stiffest setting.
Works like a charm with my GC`s.

No problem :)

It`s not overkill at all, it`s stiff, but it`s really fun to drive :)

Also, I can really recommend the Whiteline rear swaybar.
Thats a really high quality part thats reasonably cheap, and gives awesome handling.

I think I got a decent suspension setup on mine.

just installed them on my GS today, and without a road test, they seem much more softer than KYB GR-2's.

And of course, they're not compression adjustable, just rebound adjustable.

Do you guys have the same impression ?

Koni`s are a _LOT_ stiffer than the GR2`s.
The GR2`s are not stiffer than OEM struts.

After my road test, the conclusion is:

The car is 1.5 times better in handling while being more comfortable.

The rear is softer in compression though. The GR-2's are stifer in compression than the Koni's, but this makes no difference on how it reacts on the car, except for the comfort.

I'm at 3/4 of the adjustment in the front and rear. I think there's some damage on the mecanism in the rear struts, that's why they're softer. I think i broke the adjustment while adjusting them, they're fragile !

With hand pressure, the back moves much more than with GR-2's.

Is your cars equipped with Koni's are like mine ?
