oxygen sensor

Post by Qrusher »

hey guys got a problem with my car and which i think its the oxygen sensor. its on a 95 dohc my car only has one, i bought a universal one last year from autozone but now i tested and it says on the manual if you get it to normal operating temp it should go up and down on the voltage reading on the multi meter when you rev the engine. i get a constant reading that does not change. when i run it with it off i dont get a code and the car runs a little better. would this mean my sensor is dead? just checking before i buy a new one

ya im pretty sure its plugged in right, i just think all the work ive done to it, the timing, messing up the air fuel ratio bad fuel pumps and dumping fuel into the engine maybe burned it out. ima try tightening it see if that works maybe its not fully in there.

No, it's 20 bucks for you, not for us.
You have a single wire O2 sensor, our 94+'s have a 3 wire.

it's no less than 75 for a replacement at autozone.

autopartswarehouse has a replacement for about 40.

It's still not too bad, we still get off cheap. Our situation could be like the newer vehicles. My friend's '05 eclipse has two O2's in front, and 2 in back of his cat.

Imagine trying to replace all 4 of them :S

75x4=300.

I'll pass. kthxbye

if you can wait a week for shipping, you can pick up an oem oxygen sensor off ebay for around 50us. Oem is alot better than the universal ones.

Does anyone know, can Oxygen sensors be cleaned for maintenance or improved performance (perhaps with CRC Electronic Parts cleaner)?
