Congrats man, from what you're saying it seems like a killer price! And don't worry about getting used to RWD, I got used to my old truck in a few hours.... it's hopping back in a LWD that'll mess you up later haha

i'm having supra fever right now

i think it's because i just realized that all of the imported cars that come into canada at present are 1992's at the latest, which makes 1993 cars available in another year . . . . ! right ?

You are correct for the most part. 15 year import window (in Canada) that can be stretched to the month of manufacture. So if the 93 Supra TT is your desire and if you can get to one of the importers with your $1,000.00 deposit, you can be in line to get one in 2008. If it's a case that some of the 93's were actually built in November or December of 92, then you could concievably get one next year (2007) in November/December. I wouldn't be a bit surprised that there will be a lot of eiger people waiting to get their hands on one and that they have already put their deposit down and have the importers may even have a bunch earmarked for import already. If I were going that route, I wouldn't wait any longer than this Spring to put a deposit down - just a gut feeling. Bearing in mind that the Australian Gov. just shut down their 15 year import window this year and wouldn't be a bit surprised as being the reason that every engine/front clip/parts importer in Montreal has jumped onto the car import bandwagon this past year and has imported huge amounts of non pre- sold cars just on spec and possible anticipation that the Cdn Gov. will likely do the same in the coming year.
Food for thought for those thinking/planning to import.

Mark IV !

exciting but i still wonder how right-hand-drive will affect my life ... no more drive-thru? confused girl in the passenger seat? ... i've driven a skyline for at least five minutes, but using a right-hand Supra as a daily driver still makes me wonder ...

You could always go with a R33 GTS-T Skyline.
RWD plus a 2.5l engine (wich easily can be swapped for the 2.6l if you choose).

I`ve been taken for a ride in one with a modified 2.5l and it was _FAAAAST_!

I was looking at importing a vehicle last summer and the thing that bugs me the most is shifting with my left hand :? It just seems so awkward, especially considering the gears would not be flipped but exactly how they are in LHD. Strangely enough I found quite a few RHD vehicles available for import but they are mostly Benz's and BMWs. Benz's are not my thing but imagine driving the EU spec 91 M3 with LHD

i still can't figure out why the mx-3 is so shunned from import magazines ... not once have i seen one featured or talked about: just only in bodykit ads at 30pixels squared, and that ugly camoflage mx3 another guy spotted in december import tuner ... SuperStreet has come out with a new magazine called "Project Car". The first issue came out for this new year and i got it. It covers a Civic, an Eclipse, and a 240 all from the nineties ... could it be possible that even just as a PROJECT feature, an mx-3 might hit the bigscreen for once ??

i just don't understand it. it's as if the mx-3 is like a geo metro in the import world: not even considered ... even tho it runs better numbers than the stock civic hatchbacks that always ALWAYS make the pages ... fukcing Fonda ... damn japanese timberlakes !

I've accrued over 3000kms on mine so far. This increadibly great weather is why. Anyway, the left hand shifting is easily assimilated, and the foot peddles don't change either. My biggest obstacle to get accustomed to was the turn signal of all things. Second was getting used to looking up and to the left for the rear view mirror. The driving, shifting part is the easiest to get used to. So is driving on the right hand side. Since my headlight switch is on the side of the instrument pod the only column switch is the turn signal / high beam select/FTP and it's reversed from the LHD. So when it comes to the MK IV, you'll have both the light switch and turn signal and perhaps the wiper control functions reversed as well.
Even Justin Timberlake could figure that out ......LOL.

go through backwards. I've done that for passenger in drive-thru ATM's, why not restauraunts. Oh, and if you have a passenger, it'll be nice change for the passenger to do the ordering instead of the driver.

As I mentioned earlier,the 15 year window may come to a close;
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importat ... arrule.htm
http://www.tc.gc.ca/roadsafety/importat ... act-us.htm
For those wishing to import, now is the time to review the basis for the proposed shutdown of this import window. And to follow up with your own $.02 in the form provided.
Not that I want to say "I told you so". I really don't want this to happen but can see this subtly enacted on 1 Jan 08. So much for dreams of the Mk IV Supra. :(
