Re: 2.5 maf on 1.8 causing idle problems?
More than likely that is the problem. Replacing back to the JE50 may not necessarily fix the problem since it appears that you were unaware that the wrong VAF was there to begin with. That being the case, I'd check to make sure you have the correct K8 ECU and the correct TB as well. All too often some over exuberant owners think they can cut corners and magically create more power by simply plunking on parts from larger/similar engines. It doesn't work that way but this continues to be the goal of those who decide they know more than factory engineers.mbguy wrote:ok guys i have a 1.8l in my 93 mx3 bu tthe maf say kl-02 on the mas airflow meter could this be my headache causing idle problem out the wazoo?
Once you replaced the correct VAF and confirmed the ECU and TB it may be best to confirm you have the correct IM also since there's a number of current members who believed they could slap that stuff on a K8 and expect positive results. Once all is said and done, you may have to a complete TPS adjust since the previous owner or yourself has more than likely fiddled with the idle air adjustment screw to fix those idle issues. Hope you don't run into more surprises along the way.
