Was the DOHC avail in 93?

Post by lennyseleven »

Im going to buy parts online, and when looking up 93 1.6 it only tells me 1.6 16v. How do I know this is for the SOHC? If the DOHC wasnt avail in 93 then I would know.

thanks

92-93 - 1.6L SOHC 16v

94+ = 1.6L DOHC 16v

Both heads had 16 valves.

I thought that the plate on the valve cover that says "16 valve" meant that it has 16 valves.

the 8v sohc was the one in the festiva, looks exactly the same just half the valves and the crankcase on the opposite corner.

And if you want to be technical about it, more like 1993.5, 1994, and 1995 models.

Well then call MY car a 1991.5 because it was built in September of 1991.

What a damn joke.

It is a 1992 model.

Just like ANYTHING with the DOHC 1.6L is a 1994.

And Sorry, but there were never any 8v SOHC put in the MX-3.

That motor did come in some of the 323's but not the MX-3.

You seem to not know what you are talking about! :?

That must mean I have a Protege then since I have a Protege motor in my car!

Anyone that swaps a 1.6L DOHC instead of a BP into their 92-93 is an idiot.

I doubt many people have done that.

NO I know that you know your Sh!t, man. Come on. That was me being sarcastic back at your sarcastic comment. :P

I am just saying that the DOHC was never available from the factory in 1993... not as a 1993.5 or anything. If it has the DOHC, then its a 1994+.

That is all.
