I had my ze with LSD mx-6 tranny to 8000 rpm and I was still making plenty of power this was in second gear with 6 bad plugs and shot wires. When I had my 1.8 I hit 130 on the interstate at 5500rpm with someone else in the car, so I don't think 9 mph would add 1500rpm.

just wanted to add, with the 1.8 I had 3 bad piston rings. I used about a quart and a half of oil a week.

as pretty much proven already by previous replies.

The probe would be "faster" in terms of top-speed because of its taller wheel/tire combo.

The MX would accelerate quicker b/c of its lighter weight & shorter overall gearing (in combination with the smaller wheel/tire combo).

Overall the MX3 pwnz the PGT, MX6 LS, etc b/c:

1: In stock form it is at LEAST 200 lbs lighter (later model PGT/MX6 weigh drastically more than earlier models).

2: It has a quicker-ratio euro-spec steering rack, shorter wheelbase & similar track width...thus making its platform a superior handler from the factory w/more potential

3: It looks better :P

I know this thread is more than a month old but I just wanna add something. Why you guys weren't mentioning the wind resistance... I think that has a major effect on a car's speed.

The question is which of the 2 cars has better aerodynamics? MX3 OR PGT?
(IMO mx3 would be faster)

which has the taller gearing, auto or manual?

The automatics are geared way higher....approximately 170-180 MPH or more depending on the year.

What was that for?? Whatever u wanna say, its one thing to go to 7500 RPM in 1st gear, cause you are there for a split second, as opposed to going from 7000-7500 RPM in 5th gear where it probably takes you 30 seconds. Thats a big difference as far as stress on the motor.

I found the Probe at .31 and the MX-3 at .33 for drag coefficients

Hey Kiwi, what do you think of the KJ? surely someone of your talents could get one to fit an MX3

The KJ is "phyicaly" just to large to fit into the MX3 unless you where
to go RWD with it, a KJ into a MX5 would be intersting.

The KLZE is capable of producing 300Hp at the flywheel with
a Cam and intake and exhaust mainafold change, along with a
aftermarket ecu.

Porting the KLZE hurts power, you only need to remove the vavle
guides bump's and tidy the divider, on both intake and exhaust side.

a MSD AL6? ignition system with the KLZE is a must!

Im afraid peaple on the board are just going to have to sit and wait
a few more months before my motor turns a crank in anger since
im now out of a job, and no more acess to a machineshop as such.

And i cannot rent out my place in the state thats it is in sorry i think
paint and wallpaper and yea a wall or two might be nice!

Personally i can't wait for the Familia to fry those hondas at the nightwars
the power to weight is going to be Evil to say the least along with a host
of mods to the syspenion system. gearbox and drive shafts, there are a
lot of little things that add up in the long run.

No mate, you've got the KJ (miller cycle 2.3) confused with the engine from the 929/Sentia, the KJ is the same block as the K8 etc, similar dimensions except of course the height....

so you didn't keep your job eh? bummer

no access to a machine shop...., double-bummer!
