Its a different car at 5000rpm...WHY

Post by BLANK »

Hello every one. I have a 1992 mazda mx-3 gs 1.8 v6. When I floor it , it does very little. But when it hits 5000rpm, it throws your head back and acts like a whole different car!! Why is this. any help would be great. Oh, and the car is stock except for plug wires. (Basically stock)

mmm i dont' think its the VRIS. VRIS kicks in at 4000 and doesn't jolt your head back. Its more gradual. Could be the clutch

Ok, heres the deal. We wired the passenger side VRIS valve wide open and the car ran so much better!!!! It pulled through the entire rpm scale. Normally it dosnt pull at all ( no power) until around 5000rpm, then it started to pull like it was something. With it wired open, it pulled its a-- off! :D

SO what does that mean? Is the dash pot bad, is the cylinoid bad or what?
Also what can I do to test if the VRIS valves are working right?
