I towed the car to them and had them take it out. I didnt have the time or the tools to take the tranny out. My boss gave me 1 week to get the car fixed before he fired me and I really need the job ($300 a week, 30hrs). It sucked having to spend so much, but hey thats life. Im doing a bp-t swap so ill probably sell it to some needy soul on here. The thing shifts like a dream now, they really did a nice job on it. (for 2500 they better have) ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

That makes a bit more sense then.. I have never actually had a car towed to a trans shop and just said fix it.. so I really cant say how much it should cost in total. I have taken 3 different trans into various shops and had them rebuilt before.. most expensive one was just over $900.. But then I did all the removal and reinstall work too.

DEAR HOLY GOD!
Did they make the tranny case out of platinum?!
I never thought living in PA was a blessing... but there's a shop not even 20 miles from my house that would have done all that with upgraded seals and clutches for less than half that atleast. Including taking it out and putting it in. If you supply the parts, they do A/T to M/T swaps for $500 or less. And warranty everything they touch. They whacked a sensor on my buddy's car and replaced it and 2 others just in case, and did the work for free. They aren't even a speed shop! Just tranny specialists. WOW...
Even big jobs are 3 days are less... gauranteed.
That's almost criminal!
Better luck next time!

$2500....yup thats what I was quoted
Yeah... I've lost alot of power and the tranny is shifting very high in the gear
Took it to Ammco in Ottawa, Canada and they took a look at it... I have tranny fluid that is almost black (changed it less than 2 months ago) and enough shavings in the pan to completly cover the 2 magnets and still leave some in the bottom.... they've quoted me approx the same $2500 to fix it.. with a 1 year warr. I think they said the clutch plates are gone or something.... I was still wrrring from the price
I just bought the thing in March of last year!!!![Evil or Very Mad ](./images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)
So now I'm waiting to seee about financing... and looking for other options.. I can go without the car and just bus while I fix it... But I don't really have a place to work on it so doing stuff myself is not seeming to be an option....
Well hopefully after the repair it will keep working for a loooong time... onoce I get it fixed I think I'll invest in a tranny cooler, by looking around ehre it seems like a good thing to do!
I shoulda kept trying to convince my girl to get the manual!
