I just want to let everyone know that I have no kind of relationship with this company. I sent them my cluster to take measurements and in return I got to test out the prototype, make suggestions, and get a set for myself. I dont have the time for a group buy thats why I dont want to get involved.
If someone does, you may want to talk to Gary Mui and he may can give you some dos/don'ts and some pointers.

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com

Custom- How in the phuck did you get the guages on without pulling the needles???? Image I can't figure out how you got the guages over the gas & temp guages since the needles are in the oppossite direction in relation to each other. Are the indiglo guages fairly flexible or is it just a real pain in the arse as you say it is. It just seems like it would be easier to just pull the needles after you take a picture of them to make sure you put them back on to their original position. Maybe I'm just missing something here. Keep us posted on how the new prototype goes. How do you keep an idiot in suspense.......... Image Thanks, Robert

It might be a dumb question, so please don't hate me !
I was wondering how do they glow ?
Are they wired so they light up when you turn on your headlights or are they glowing all the time and only visible in the dark (like the needles and markers for the watches) ?
Also how much do they say they will go on sale if not in the group buy ?
I believe they look really tight and will be perfect on an emerald greeen GS, it will be kinda the same color. As far as the group buy goes..
"I asked what discount we would get.
Orders of
20-50 save 10% ($15.00) off order- single payment sent for entire group.
>50 save 20% off order- single payment sent for entire group.
lead time on order for whole group would be 2 weeks once we receive order."
(They do flex, they feel like their made of rubber) They are Very hard to get on.. The problem with the 1st set were too thick and the needles wouldnt move freely. I had to pull it off and put it back on. They are suppose to go over the OEM ones, I had to remove mine, thats why the hole is their. and you can see through it. The next one, that should be here maybe tomarrow, is thinner, and supposedly fixed the problems with the ones I have. The allighnment of the holes was a little off, it has no place to show the Bright lights, the MPH is off as well, 75 should be straight up, its like 78-79 on mine.
The reason the needles dont come off is because 1, it didnt come with a needle puller, 2, it would have to be recalibrated.
the holes are cut a little bit larger than the dial, so that it moves freely.
FRENCHGUY.
Noone hates you, Im here to answer your questions. Image
So you want to know how they work? Its called
electroluminescence, I added a link at the bottom a s a reference. It's wired to a ground and a hot wire (12v). I have it wired to my dimmer in my dash as a hot wire and a ground is on a screw behind the location of the gauge cluser. You wire in another dimmer to adjuts its brightness. I modified a factory part ofthe dash where a switch would go to add in my dimmer.
They will be available in lots of colors.
http://www.speedhut.com/dialcolors.htm
Here is that referrence about electroluminescence.
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question296.htm

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com
[This message has been edited by Custommx3 (edited August 23, 2001).]

I get to keep it. Im taking the time out to test it, writing the install notes, and I sent them my cluster.
Plus they sent general wiring diagram. There isn't one for the mx-3. I have to make one. I basically was said" here, this is power this is ground."
and the ford focus install notes, as a general example.

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com
[This message has been edited by Custommx3 (edited August 24, 2001).]

I got in the new prototype yesterday. THis one looks like it will fit much better.
They fixed the things I asked them to fix.
Its much thinner, so it should fit alot easier now. The hoels look better as in the right size. There is now a place to see if your bright lights are on, and the speedo looks right. The fixed the edge on the left side that was cut off.
Image

Once it is completed I will let you guys know asap!.
If your interested in being the leader of the group buy. Send em an email to
custommx3@hotmail.com (put "gauge group buy" as the subject)
You will have to get everyones money, place the orders. Im not sure if you will be sending them out or not. Speedhut may do it. This is a big responsobility, you could be sending out for like 20-50+ people. Be aware of that.

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com

i was just thinking a way to do the group buy, just gotta out of school so my brain is a tad fried. why dosent the company making the product put it on ebay for sale and then a group leader will buy a mass amount and we send our fund over pal pay to him. i tho it might be easier but maybe its just my knowledge deprived brain!

Barry. You are wrong about the speedometer being off . The FIRST prototype was correct, straight up should NOT point to 75MPH, it should be exactly where they had it the first time, closer to 80 than to 75. I know it doesn't make sense , but it's true.

I''ll let Speedhut know.

------------------
Barry Clark
Moderator
1995 Mazda Mx-3 RS
Chaste White
barrykclark.com
barrykclark@hotmail.com
[This message has been edited by Custommx3 (edited August 24, 2001).]
