I feel sorry for you guys, you must get the weather pretty bad :o

we don't get it that bad often, and we dont have chains and winter / summer tyres...

99% of the time the weather is drivable.. although occasionally it can get bad and loads of accidents happen because we're not prepared for it!

Am I in love with my MX-3 RS?
Ummmm, lets see.... 8)

I get up in the morning and the first thing I do (after kissing the wife) is look out the window to see if it's still siiting there, gleaming black, like a cat about to pounce, beautiful snout poking forward with that small but elegant mouth that .......er, I digress.

It get's a few more loving looks before I am ready for work.

Time to go to work and I practically skip outside like a 5 year old about to ride his beloved scooter!
I circle it like an F16 pilot giving it the once over before I climb aboard.

I fire up the powerplant, listen to it come on-line and compare the sound to all the fire up sounds in my head for the last 7 days. I let her warm up to within acceptable parameters while watching the dashboard lights and dials with an insane grin on my face. I get the all clear.

I line "Blackbird" up on the main runway and let her roll towards the threshold (The main road, OK?).

Finally, on the main roads, I almost drool with delight as I cruise to work in what has to be one of the most beautiful shapes on the road today.
I note the stares, envious and otherwise from drivers who don't even know what I am driving, but assume it's a Porsche, and cut me up accordingly. I do NOT respond, I love this car too much to engage in Road Rage!! 8)

I arrive at work and go thru the ritual of supporting systems shutdown procedures, followed by MECO (Main Engine Cut-off to you and me). :P
I disembark from the MX-3 to the envious stares of fellow workers and engage remote security protocols before sauntering into work.
Blackbird get to more stares from me before I go in.

Followed by at least 12 more during the day.
And any excuse to go out to her and pick something up, or drop something off.

Hometime - and I am as ecstatic as a spotty teenager about to see his first porn flick. I am about to fly my Blackbird back home.

The flight home lasts longer as I go anywhere but straight home.

Get home. Wife's about to take her city car shopping. Offer to go with her - in the MX-3. I drive. We look cool. I have a mega grin on my face. :D

Daughter asks for a ride to see her BF. Usually would Harumph! and say no. Say yes. Never mind her (Oh, sure I love her!) but I get to fly the bird again! Take the extra long windy route home.

Hit the MX-3.com web site when I get home. 8)

Daughter asks for pickup from 6 miles away at 11:30pm.
Feign annoyance but agree to pick her up anyway.
Hit the now empty roads.
Pick her up from her friends. She WANTS me to always do this.
The MX-3 is a major impression on her buddies.
All their parents drive boring slabs of metal.

Blackbird gets a last look in before I go to bed.
Go to bed, and dream of Blackbird.
Can't wait for the next day - and another flight onboard my MX-3!

Do I love my MX-3?
Am I nuts? Have I lost it completely?
Am I a candidate for a strait-jacket + free ride in a padded van?
(To a place where you get free padded accomodation and all the Valium et al that you can absorb?)
Destined to be captured by men in white coats with butterfly nets?
And hauled away to the song "Sound of Silence"

Ummmm, you decide.

Methinks me loves my MX-3 Blackbird - VERY much!

heheh :werd:

I've spent many Friday nights at home alone with my baby. She treats me right. I still go out plenty, but most of the time I'd rather be home working on my swap than over at a friend's house doing nothing. All my friends swear I make love to my car...if they only knew...

Oh yeah, I have a stock ATX 92 RS too.

Good thing your in the UK Thunderstorm.. over here I would have to call the guys with their little white jackets with custom tailored sleeves for you ;)

Its really a weird phenomenon if you think about it.. for me this happens with every "new" car I buy.. doesnt matter what other cars I have.. all that matters is making the newest car as perfect as I can afford too. Right now.. for me thats my MX-3.. Everytime I look at it.. I can see how she will be when I am finished. Shaved doors.. Lambo doors.. nice rims.. new paint.. etc.. she will be subtle.. gracefull.. elegant with a hint of aggression.. Personally I love the stock lines of the car.. but I think that Lambo door kit would be hilarious to have on a car no one would really ever expect from a stock looking car ;) Cant wait to see friends & family's reactions to that ;)

I have to say, my MX-3, is such a nice place to be

its the only car I've ever driven that I'd consider that to be the case.. its somewhere, where I want to be.. I want to be out, driving it.. and sometimes gently, obeying the speed limits and cruising with the windows down and the sunroof open, -and the heating on absolute hottest!!!!

its such a drivers car, yet its smooth, refined and quiet when you want to quietly plod about in it..

just need to teach it some manners round town, and stop its drink problem and it'll be perfect

Have you tried driving the MX-3 in snow/compacted ice?

I've never been in any car quite like it. My dad pointed it out to me (I bought the car off him after he had a heart attack), but I didn't believe him.

It literally carves through snow like it isn't there. Pick a gear and let it go - truly awesome. In fact, this time last year, I drove to work in some pretty nasty-looking snow - everyone else was sliding all over the place, but I couldn't figure out why - and when I got out of the car in the work car park, I fell over. But the car didn't slip a wheel even once.

Staggering.

WOW you must have an 4cyl. Automatic, cause my V6 5 speed can't help but spin them tires in the snow.

Nup. Manual V6 all the way.

Automatic my a--. Anyway, autos suck in the snow - especially auto RWDs (as my dad - Jaguar XJ8 - found out recently to his expense).
