i think they are cheaper from corksport though. and since they are open ended they should be approved by the sanctioned racing bodies...

I bought the kyokugen from corksport. They were an absolute waste of money. The tool that came with the set to take the lugs off stripped almost instantly. I had to take half the lug nuts off with a craftsman stripped bolt tool. I ened up with a bunch of ruined lug nuts and no way to take them off and on.

McGard Splinedrive is the best style to buy.
There are others that have copied this style if you want to save a few bucks or get them in a different color or something.
Gorilla and Muteki are a couple off the top of my head.

What exactly are you guys doing... I've got the Kyokugen's and see no stripping problems. Also, I believe a 16 (or 15, can't remember) will also fit on the lugs...

Any weight you can save helps, but not always.
I was watching a show on Speed channel a while ago and they put a bigger brake kit on an RSX. Even though it was lighter than stock, they lost horsepower. They determined the rotational mass was causing the loss of horsepower. They even called an engineer to verify this. Even though you say.. 1 pound isnt alot.. it does matter I would suspect because it also is rotational mass.

Makes perfect sense. The further the spinning mass is from the center of rotation the larger the effective weight will be. I'm sure those brakes had aluminum centers with a cast iron rotor. Since the rotor is the heavier part and was moved further from center its effective weight went up.Custommx3 wrote:Any weight you can save helps, but not always.

Just ordered the mcgard spline drives in black from summit. I got the set for the 5 lug cars. The 4 lug set came with a locking nut. I figure since they are all spline drive is there really a need for a locking nut and to keep track of two tools to take them off? These are to go with the bronze Konig Heliums I ordered earlier this week.

Looks like we've all been reading the SCC that's on the shelf right now. Just kidding, lol, but there is an article about rotational mass, talking about lighter but bigger rotors on a certain car, and losing HP at the wheels because of them.
