under the car
under the car
i was just curious how everyone does work under their car? jackstands, ramps, your own devilish device? what? im wanting to do more and more work to my car on my own but only have 2 jackstands and a cheezy jack. anyone have a unique way to work under their car?
Re: under the car
Jackstands are probably the cheapest.
A set of 4 will only cost about $30CDN if that.

Re: under the car
I'm ghetto. I use the jack out of the trunk for everything.
Re: under the car
Floor jack and stands. Well worth the $$

Re: under the car
and get a good floorjack. Those "kits" that include 2 jackstands & a jack always include the biggest peice of crap jack you can get, and don't raise it hardly at all.
I Dunno what the cheapest price is for a good jack, but it is proably at least 100 bux. Mine was 300, its a 3-pump low-profile race jack and raises my car PLENTY high.

Re: under the car
lol ya i guess you'd have to build your own ramps. i have ramps but when i went to use them i realized that these cars are far too low for ramps lol.

Re: under the car
You can buy ramps made for low cars. Ive seen them for just under 80 bucks. There a lot more gradual of an incline.

Re: under the car
i use ramps and stands, but because of the incline issue mentioned, i raise it w/a jack first, then slide a ramp under the wheel and sit it down. works fine, and if you've got four ramps, you can lift the whole car that way. Works every time for me, and i don't gotta worry about a jack popping and the car falling on me...but then again, you'd have to be using a pretty crappy jack for that to happen.

Re: under the car
Just wanting to remind ppl that it can be really dangerous to work under a car that just has a jack under it... use axle/jack stands or a ramp or something more secure... jack stands aren't really that expensive... and also remember to use jackstands in pairs!!! I just dont want ppl to get hurt...
