VJ14 HY-Bred

Post by Josh »

well just got it back from ADP on thursday last week. they put in the absolute biggest cartridge possable using the stock exaust side turbin. what a huge difference in power and sound. im probably hitting 0-60 in around 5 sec. or so. now it has a nasty sounding intake when spooling and you can here this growel in the exaust when i hit boost. amazing. now i just have to get the AFC working properly and ill be set for the track. i think i will be in 13's. was going 60 on the freeway this morning threw it into 3rd and jumped to 100 in about 2 sec. fastest car iv ever been in. its almost scary.

i tried running 230cc injectors but no go it was pinging alot. so i put in the 460's and it rund great just alittle tooo rich at an idle.

also ADP told me that they went up 4 sizes on the intake turbine cartridge.

all i can say is wow. just had to share with everyone.

The VJ14 is a Tbird I believe. Thats an upgrade for a 1st gen MX6 as well.

How much boost are you running?

thats the stock motor right? not a jspec? Which exhaust manifold are you using?

I'd like to know how much it cost as well... the CS upgrade offers a T3 dual ball bearing center cartidge/inlet housing for ~$1,300 that enables you to use the stock manifold and downpipe. I'd like to know some more specs on your upgrade to see if theyre comparable. but then again i'm starting to love the disco potato idea more and more...

they took my vj14 and put a tbird cartidge in. they told me it was the biggest i could go with still using the vj14 exaust turbine. total it cost around 600, 200 for a rebuild and 400 for the rest. i really wanted a dual ballberring set up which they can do for around 1000 bucks, which would be cheeper that the CS one. i just didnt have the money for that, though it would have been the best.

im running about 8 psi. and so far its sweet. just need to get the afc going. a few people on the board were supposed to send me some diagrams on how they had it hooked up but so far no go. the motor its in isnt the Jspec. but im running 8:1 comp and my cams which make for one hell of a high end powerban.
i ended up switching back to the 230cc injectors, cause the 460's are just too much at low end, but are a huge difference under boost. ill have to waite till i get the afc working

I've got a set of 330cc injectors from an MX6 GT. comes with injector harness clips. Lemme know if you're interested. I'm looking to get around $50 shipped for them.

That pinging you heard was detonation. i wouldnt keep those 230cc injectors in.

Yup. thats why I offered the mx6 injectors. they are actually the 310cc, not the 330.

If 460 is too much and 230 isnt enough, these 310's should be perfect.

thanks i sent you a pm about the injectors reble24k, thanks

im running the 95 dohc B6 fully built, but im running 8:1 vs 9:1. i havent gotten to go to the dyno yet. but we are estimating around 250 at the wheels. with the 460cc injectors. with the smaller 230cc around 200 to 225. big difference. if you dont beleve me. ill just say i have completly blown away a newer mustange GT and an SVT. among a few others. at 60mph we bothe hit it and within 3 or 4 blocks i was about 6 cars ahread of him. i can hit about 75 mph in about 180feet or so.

well i put in the 310cc injectors. runs way better. nice and smooth rather than choppy. made a huge difference in the way it runs.

I know someone posted earlier what the turbo might be from, but Josh, where did the turbo you used come from. What car, if you don't mind my asking.
Thanks

Good to hear josh. If you're using an SAFC (which I thought you said you were?) then you are only supposed to use about 20% larger injectors. the 310's are a lot closer to that than the 460's. Glad they worked out for you. Now go dyno!

I am ready to see those Dyno results Josh!

i was following Josh down to Protland 2 weeks ago and the RSX just pushed Started going, And Josh just punched it too! Huge thing of Smoke. Probably Flames too, but it was daytime; anyways he was just going up and slowing then back up and slowing while the RSX was still going as fast as she could. She was a Hottie..... But Josh's car is H*lla fast!
