You do realize there are plenty of states with no inspection......right? And even if we're talking about cops giving you tickets for it in states without inspections, what cop has ever asked you to show that your back-up light lights up the right color? Even if the cop did know, I doubt they'd give you a ticket for for a bak-up light infraction. All the time I see cops drive right by parents whose kids are bouncing around the car with no seatbelt on. Some even carrying infants on thier laps with no child seat. IF cops don't give these people tickets, I hardly doubt a cop is going to write you a ticket for it unless you really, really piss him off.

I can't believe I see such irresponsible people on this board who are actually driving. Okay here's a scenario.
You are backing out of a space on the road at 9pm and an 85 year old man is driving down the street. All he sees is red, which is the color that glows if your lights are on anyway. So he just keeps driving, and smashes into you and ****s up his car.
Worst part about America is, Thanks to your irresponsibility and lack of common sense, It is HIS fault that there was a crash because he couldn't tell you were backing up cuz your ****ing tailights were all red. How was he supposed to know?
If that ever happened to me, and you had dyed your tailights all red, I don't care who saw me I would **** you up for being so stupid and ruining my car.
It scares me that people who are so oblivious to THE LAW and COMMON SENSE are actually on the road. Cops won't ticket you for a reverse light infraction, OF COURSE THEY WILL! You are acting against the law, and their job is to keep the law in order.
Sure, maybe you will slide, cuz you will shift out of reverse and into neutral when you see a cop, but just know you are acting AGAINST THE LAW, and you have put yourself in an irreversible situation that could get you a large penalty.

You could probly get it at a local canadian tire, I'm sure they carry it, or something similar. As for the cop not getting out...You turn your car off bud, you dont leave it run, if the car is off, there are no lights showing, PERIOD. And as for actually doing this to your tails. I say sure go ahead. But if you sell your car I highly doubt it will pass a safety. I'd jsut be careful I highly doubt you'll get ticketed for it, even if the cop does see it. I'd jsut be carefull because liek 1 guy said, people won't know you're backing up, so just be careful :)

I got mine @ my local Hobby/Craft store.
It's "TESTORS" brand Candy clear red paint for plastic models.
If I can remember, I will take a pic of the spray can tonight.
The clear coat I bought was automotive clear coat touch up spray from PepBoys (Canadian tire) or AutoZone
2-3 coats of red + 2 coats of clear and you are set.
On a side note for those who care-- I was one of the 1st to do this mod many years ago to the MX-3-- and I can speak from experience that its DANGEROUS as H E L L to paint over your white back up llight. I painted over mine back inthe day and yes, they look sweet-- but it was a stupid move and I regreted it.
The cops might not bust you for it, but Its dangerous almost getting rearended trying to back up or get out of a parking spot (when I couldn't park backwards).
But, I dont guess I learned my lesson, becuase I just painted my altezzas red and didnt mask off the back-up light on those either. :D

And,"MMike"-- I beleive this is the 2nd time that I can remember that you have really blasted us Americans.
That is really not necessary.

check the local model shop that sell R/C car, car models, those little sci/fi figures. just ask for transparent candy apple red, there is only one shade, and candy apple red transparent is it. If it says that on the side of the can then you got the right stuff, just ask the guy at the store and he will help you.
I got mine from a R/C modle shop at the Brampton city centre shoping mall.

this is ****ing stupid,
first, the paint can be bought at any hobby shop? every city, town , whatever has one, go there and buy it from their
second, you do not have to be reversing to get a ****ing ticket for diff colours other then white, you can do what you want, you want purple do it up, but all anyone is saying is that you might get a ticket for it, you do then you do, you dont then you dont, no big deal, so lets drop it and have the end of this retarded post
thank you and good night :D
