Re: 7000RPM redline...
I honestly see no problem taking your car up a wee bit past 7. Just dont stay there forever. Get in get out. The engine feels great in first gear at around 7200-7500 and second around 7000-7200. Its a high revving engine. I wouldn't do this every "take-off" but I would never say its how you "destroy your engine"...Its probably much worse for your car to shift at 2000 rpms...

Re: 7000RPM redline...
much worse to **** at 2k???wtf this is no rotary, it doesnt need high rpms will do fine at 3-4k rpm shifts, and having ****ty oil in ur engine and taking past 7k rpm taking chance seizing it, thats what kids do when they come to engine shop to rebuild their engines.Originally posted by killerpickle:

Re: 7000RPM redline...
The stroke on this engine is so freaking short, it's shorter than alot of motorcycles, and motorcycles rev alot higher than that. If the KLDE with a longer stroke runs out of gas at the same RPM, I've got no problem revving the K8 just as high.Originally posted by mitmaks:

Re: 7000RPM redline...
see again what i posted about our lifters going that high, taking it that high yeilds no gains on power, peak power is at 6500 not 7500 and takes a sharp drop off past 6500, hydro lifters are to heavy to rev up that high, our cams dont make power that high, all your doing is setting yourself up for a droped valve and a engine thats wore out long before it should be

Re: 7000RPM redline...
finally someone with some sense. Thank you. The fuel cut-off should never come into play.
