Two amps

Post by marius »

I have a mono amp powering my sub and my 6 1/2s are running off my head unit. I'm thinking of using a little 4 channel amp to power the 6 1/2s but I've been told that using two amps would kill my battery quick. Can you experts out there shed some light on this matter?
Thanks,
Oh yeah, the mono amp is 300w and the little 4 channel is 220w.

i'm running 4 amps and im using a two year old die hard battery. Unless you plan on playing music for hours on end with your car off two amps would be just fine. Even if you do play your music with the car off, buy an optima yellow top.

Campacitor, 1-farad per 1,000 watts. I had three amps with the stock battery. The aircondition is the only thing that would effect it.

I ran/run just one amp and i get TONS of dimage. Its not the number of amps, its the size of the amp(s). Look at the current draw...
114amp draw used to dim me a lil. I don't have the specs on the MMATS amp to tell me how much more current draw it was, but it made me dim a lot.
It also depends on your car. Sometimes your electrical system can go bad before others do. And vise versa.

Basically the battery is more or less to just start the car, after that most of the load in on your alt, or should be. The best thing would be a better alt and update the wiring under the hood a little.

i will have to disigree with u on that one. the battery gets all the load even when the car is running the alt just charges it. i have a 220A alt but i have a cheap battery so when i turn my stuff up the lights still dim like crazy because the batt can't charge as fast as the amp is pulling it. so with a bigger bat and or capacitor/s it should solve the problem.
