Re: Corrosion weakspots
Thanks for the help people - this shows just how good the MX-3 on-line community is :)
I have given my car a good look over, and will also mention this to the body-shop (though this may be an excuse for them to print money :/ ). There is also a bit of rust appearing on the bodywork under the fron...

Corrosion weakspots
I have a 1992 V6 - black
The rear wheel arches have started to rust, and a bit of corrosion has started to appear around the sunroof (both opening and sunroof 'lid').
Apparently the rear wheel arches are a weak-spot due to the construction method (dirt collects on the rim, stores moisture and th...

Volvo MX3-a-like
Volvo have just launched 5 new concept cars on this site:
http://www.conceptlabvolvo.com/us/designs/
The 2-seater sports coupe looks remarkably like the MX-3. The futuristic design lives on ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: CPU failed?
I think the garage meant my ECU!
And soz for the typing in my original post - it was done late at night
One other comment, apart from the faults listed, the car runs fine. Surely the ECU would not just affect stuff like me window heater light ? [img]shrug.gif"%20border="...

CPU failed?
I posted earliwer on the alarms/car audio board re. a problem with my alarm. However, I have taken the car to the garage due to another problem i.e. the rear window heater has stopped working. At first they specified a faulty switch, but now report that the CPU is faulty.
The stmptoms are as follo...

Alarm goes off whilst driving
I have a problem re. my alarm sounding whilst I am driving
The alarm is not switched on, but the 'siren' goes off. The lights do not flash tho, and the immobiliser does not kick in.
This happened once on numerous occasions on 1 day, but has not recurred since.
It happened at the same time as...

Creaking trim
Apologies for this very basic query.
However, the plastic trim around the rear hatchback window of my 10-year old MX-3 is constantly and loudly creaking. It is soooo f###ing annoying!
Has anyone got any tips to fix this before I get the vaseline out (no dirty jokes please).
Any constructive su...

Re: Heat Shield - removal
Hi, thanks for the responses.
David Coleman may be right, as the heatshield was placed on top of the middle pipe, rather than beneath it.
There is a rubber (?) bush/joint or something on the cars undertray above where the heat shield used to be, and I thought the shield may have been there to pr...

Replacement Cat. Converter
Hi,
I need to replace my Cat. Converter, as it has started blowing http://www.mx-3.com/ubb/eek.gif .
Welding is an option, but I am examining getting a replacement. Can a replacement cat improve performance?
I have browsed previous posts, but cannot find any definite recommendations. By-passin...

Heat Shield - removal
I asked in a previous post about rattling from underneath my car at certain revs - and the replies correctly identified problems with the heat shield (tho the cat is blowing as well :/ )
To fix this, the bloke at the garage has simply removed the heat shield from the middle pipe of the exhaust.
...

Re: Rattling at 1200 revs
Thanks for the comments - the problem was near the heat shield, but is actually a leaking Catlytic Converter. They will need to take the heat shield off to see how bad it is.
If they cannot weld it to fix it, it will be mega bucks for a replacement :/

Rattling at 1200 revs
Hi,
I have noticed a 'rattling' sound from underneath my car when the the rev counter passes around 1200 revs (in a range of 1100 to 1500 revs).
This only happens when the car is moving, and is most noticable in first/second gear.
Any ideas what this could be? I am getting it checked at a gar...
