another thing.... if you can, get a compression test done on the engine. it'd be better to buy an engine with 100k miles on it with nearly perfect compression, than an engine with 10k miles with wacky crappy compression. Don't fall for the low milage trap! You have NO idea what's happened to an engi...

I made a custom bracket for holding on a CDI ignition box and an accel super coil (massive coil, that one). I didn't really do it for extra performance (there really is none to be found, short of an MSD box, but even then.... power gains are for the most part unlikely) but rather because it looks ke...

if you're poor you're not gonna like the answer.... either pay a mechanic 800 bucks to replace it, or you gotta do it yourself.... you gotta pull the engine... sucks doesn't it? That's why I decided to do the engine swap... since I had to pull the engine anyway... but it's probably not worth it for ...

cheap.

200 to 450 USD.

no really. I got mine for 350, and that was with whatever I needed from the other protege they had on the lot, and a BP MAF with it and stuff.

I bet all they do with the J-spec motors (except maybe the cams are a little difference) is because the gas there is a LOT better than here in the states, they probably advance the timing more, at least, that's what I'm guessing... That's pretty much standard issue for J-spec engines from what I've ...

as I recall, the J-spec BP is EXACTLY the same motor as the American one... "but it came from Japan so it HAS to be better!" they say :P It's not tremendously powerful all by its lonesome, but the BP has insane potential because it's incredibly well built in the first place, and there are ...

Vaughn Nishimura, the MX-3 God, says he wouldn't do it.

So don't :P

It's not THAT much more expensive to buy an actual GS, orrrr, just do a BP swap or something.

yeah.... do stuff yourself. A little blood spilling is good for you once in a while. Hey.... it beats getting raped by mechanic charges. Replacing a B6's water pump is NOTHIN! (kinda hard to get at though) "this one guy went into Fight Club and you could swear he was made out of butter... two w...

Another potentially useful gauge is the vacuum gauge for measuring the engine's vacuum in the intake manifold... IM vacuum is essential to the operation of many parts of the engine, and also can give you a rough estimate on things like fuel economy and such. I'm getting one for my BP'ed MX-3 because...

my advice... get a BP in there, and get it working (I'm still working on that "getting it working" part myself... say what people want, it's NOT as easy as people say it is. Depends on luck. I don't have any :P) and THEN start thinking about turboing... don't jump for a BPT immediately, it...

hmmm... well, one of the guys from clubprotege thinks that it might be that my engine's being starved of fuel, which would explain why it's fine for a little while, then dies, because the pressure might be dropping off or something... I'm gonna try putting a tube from the IM directly to the FPR and ...

yes but what marks should line up? should both pulleys have I pointing up? or should the intake say I and the exhaust E?
