Here in the states, another way to tell the two apart - other than the valve cover - is to look for an oil cooler. If it has an oil cooler, its an 89-94.

May be the case overseas as well??? Just another something to look for that may help with identifying .....

dunno if this will prove helpful, but...... I forget if the 90-4 Protege exhaust is basically the same as the MX-3? If so, then the mandrel bent tubing kits listed here - including a 3" kit 8) - will 'work': http://www.trubendz.com/home.asp?producttype=exhaust&productfor=escort_tubing&p...

I'm not as familiar with the B6, but yes it should come off easily. The only other thing to remove after the oil pan would be the oil strainer. Then pry the baffle off....

Potentially awesome header for the 1.8 BP!

I talked a couple weeks ago with the owner of SMS Products who specializes in header design. He has mainly focused on Honda's and has some VERY VERY nice header designs for the B and D-series motors. Some of the most powerful na Honda's are using his headers.... This thread contains his reply to the...

the 1.6 B6 miata had a 'short-nose' crank from 90-1; from ~91.5-93 it was replaced with the 'big-nose'. altho I have not personally held/seen a 'short-nose' 1.8 BP crank, the 90-1 BP's came with a 'short-nose' as well. You'd want a crank out of a late 91 and up Protege/Escort to be sure of getting t...

yes, it will work. what year is your BP? and its out of a Protege? some came with a short-nose crank snout, and thus smaller oil pump, and different crank pulley. if yours happens to be the short-nose, you would need to source the big-nose parts. then it will drop right in :)

The 95 Kia BP I opened up had the forged crank and a mbsp. My opinion: The 95-97 1.8 Kia is basically a 95-8 1.8 Protege engine; however some of the small internal parts - such as valvetrain components, etc - may not be mazda made.... The tranny is interesting; I had heard before that it is different...
