Re: Engine MOD Chips 4 Real?
torpedan, so you think this may actually be legit? I wonder if anyone on this board has eer attempted this. I was a little skeptical about the use of a resistor to increase hp as well, but you make a good point about playing with the timing. If this is what the chip is doing then couldn't we just ad...

Re: seat belt light
ZEmadman, I just got done doing the same mod. Go back and make sure you extracted the correct wires. I followed the instructions from MX-3.com and it worked like a charm. I also removed the beeper module from the backside of the fusebox just for safe measure. But I'm very happy woth the results, I'd...

Re: Roaring noise
perhapsadingo8yerbaby, is it possible that your aftermarket wheels are the wrong offset or too wide and are rubbing inside the fenders when you turn. I've got oversized tires on my 4Runner and it makes a loud roar/rub sound when I turn it full lock in either direction. Could this be your problem? Ha...

Re: New guy with a stupid question
torpedan, so any of the 1.6L DOHC's will work in my car? And you say it also best to use the matching ECU? I am gonna assume then that since the harness will work on the engine side that the DOHC ECU will connect directly to my existing wiring harness. I hope this is right, any more feedback would b...

Re: Holy Cow This Car Rocks
Damn clayton your car must be running tip top condition to put down 40 mpg. I'll see what it can do when it gets a little cooler and I don't ahve to run the A/C. I'm just ecstatic, my other car a toyota 4Runner can barely muster 20mpg on a good day, so my newly acquired 33 mpg is great for me. But o...

Re: Aluminum flywheel pros/cons?
If I might speak from my experience with a different car here, then please consider this. I've been under the impression that light-weight flywheels are good for racing applications since they allow you to get the revs up faster. But for a daily driver in stop/go traffic wouldn't it be more advantag...

Re: removing water line from TB
I'm still new with this car, but not new to cars in general. If you remove the water line to your TB, its gonna make warm up times longer. As mentioned before you are fortunate that you live in FL so it may not be a problem but anyone else who may attempt this will regret it come winter time. Just t...

Re: New guy with a stupid question
Roundtop, would the DOHC from a 94-96 work with my ECU and various sensors? Would there be other modifications required? As I mentioned before I'm not looking for more performance just flexibility when the time comes for stock engine replacement. Beside when I need to feed my speed habit I just clim...

Holy Cow This Car Rocks
Wow! I've only had this car a few days now and went through my first tank of gas with it. I was hoping it would return some good mileage but I was not prepared to get 33.5 mpg. 80% of it was highway miles but AC was blasting the entire time. And still it turns this many miles to a gallon. I only reg...

Re: New guy with a stupid question
Thanks Custommx3, I've been there and tried reading as much as I could. The pages seem to be dedicated to the KL swap or a performance 1.8L swap. I'm really just looking for a direct drop in that's perfectly smog leagal in CA, USA. Not looking to alter performance, just wanna keep my little green ma...

New guy with a stupid question
Hi all, I'm new to the MX-3 scene. I just picked up my '93 a couple of days ago. It's a 1.6L but man is it in good shape with only 84K miles on the clock. It's not fast but I just have fun driving it (a novelty almost). Anyhow I was wondering about which engines are legal direct plug and play motors...
