Re: The "Quick Question" Thread

Straight piping the second cat shouldn't effect the emissions. There is a primary cat built into the header that you can't bypass without it freaking out. Yup. http://www.mx-3.com/manuals/showimg.php?file=/1995%20Workshop%20Manual/F1/F1-005.gif About the steering wheel, thats a fairly common issue ...

Re: Possible oxygen sensor and Catalytic converter problem.

Well the exhaust would feel funny at any idle. You may not be able to tell if it idles over 1k though. Just imagine what the difference is, if the cat is free, the exhaust will come out in pulses, but if its all being jammed up behind the cat, its being choked and will come out in a continuous stre...

Re: Possible oxygen sensor and Catalytic converter problem.

If you put your hand by the exhaust does it pulse like a motor does, or does it feel perfectly smooth? One more thing to check is your compression. You should be able to rent or borrow a gauge. There's a FAQ for it too. If your motor is extremely tired, you'll get poor mileage as well. About the op...

Re: Favourite pic of your car.

Not sure if it is a "favorite", but it is a newish pic :D That's a slick ride, what's the spoiler thing on the hatch there? I don't think I've ever seen one before. that's a hatch shade, they're pretty rare. i think his is actually a corksport replica that he painted to match the car, the...

Re: The "Quick Question" Thread

Straight pipes are nice and have no ill-effect except failing emissions if its something you have to worry about. I did it on mine after installing headers simply because I know enough shops that will pass my car without putting it on the lift  As for the wheel, no idea but if your going w...

Re: Possible oxygen sensor and Catalytic converter problem.

Go to You Tube and type in Sea Foam and watch. Buy a can at Walmark and pour 1/3 into your PVC hose while having someone throttle your engine so it won't stall. Once it's in let the engine stall by removing your thumb from the PVC hose. 10 mins later start the car and watch the white smoke work it'...

Re: The "Quick Question" Thread

What do you guys think about straight piping and bypassing the catalytic converter? I think I see that in my future and I hear it's cheaper then getting another Cat and installing it. Also when my car gets warmed up, my steering wheel(i think it's the part that wraps over the bottom and bottom of th...

Re: New parts car!

Was the rust the only reason it was so cheap? The thing looks as bad as an MX3 can look to an MX3 lover, but it seems pretty good as far as mileage on the car goes.

Re: Possible oxygen sensor and Catalytic converter problem.

You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you very much for that information Ryan. I'm currently half into exams right now so I won't be able to get right into all of this right I way, but I will post updates for when I do! I also happen to know that this car runs in open loop if you travel 110k...

Possible oxygen sensor and Catalytic converter problem.

Hey guys, I've got a '95 MX3, 4cylinder and I'm the fourth owner of it. The last two owners(who including me owned the car from about 100,000KM to 229,000KM) have never had very good mileage with it, and neither have I. I'm receiving about 380KM on one tank right now, and I know it's less then I sho...

Re: MX3 Projector/Halo Lights

I have an update! I pulled my bumper off and threw the projectors on, my high and low beams work great, and are quite bright. I haven't done the wiring for the halo part or the led indicator part, but I did everything I knew how to do. Heres the album link. http://imgur.com/a/30d32 I haven't put awa...

Re: MX3 Projector/Halo Lights

your images aren't working but you should come over to my place and we could probably figure it out as i'm pretty good with wiring. i also hear it's a really good idea to solder a lot of the connections since they didn't from factory unless they're doing it now Thanks Shayne! I might just take you ...
