Re: Kl-de swap hints and tips please:)
Out of curiosity for myself, davmac why mod the throttle body and throttle cable/mount? I recently swapped a KL-DE into my 94 RS without any space issues. Is the GS brake booster larger than the RS or does the throttle cable/spring return cause issues in the MX-3? I have been chasing a high idle and...

Re: 93 MX-3 V6 hesitation issue
I too am anxious to know a solution. I have the exact same problem accompanied by a high idle. I was told the stutter may be the distributor?

Please HELP! High idle/distributor...are they related
I have posted on this a few times now but have had absolutely no luck. When warm my car idles between 1500-2000 rpm. In diagnostic mode it idles fine around 1000. I have adjusted the timing, tps, checked sensors (new temp sensor, unplugged iac), checked vacuum leaks (shop did a smoke test and found ...

Re: klde swap info
I recently swapped in a KL-DE from a 97 probe and used the motor and trans (with everything connected to the motor like sensors etc.) but used the suspension from the MX-3. The probe axels are too long and will cause problems with the wheel bearings. Trust me I found out the hard way. Since I had an...

Re: KL-DE throttle body issues
Had some time to get back to the garage today and it seams it must be the springs. Loosened the throttle cable and disconnected it and it didn't change anything. Guess I'll have to start looking for a low mileage throttle body.

Re: KL-DE throttle body issues
I have not touched the set screw. I am referring to the throttle stop. Everything appears to be good. Inside is pretty clean. Mainly aluminum with small traces of carbon. My springs are still in tact but I'm thinking they are probably just wore out. Do they make a rebuild kit or is it easier just to...

KL-DE throttle body issues
I was wondering if anyone on here has had any issues with their throttle bodies causing a high idle. After tons of investigating and a trip to the shop I am thinking my actual throttle body is wore out. It doesn't seem to want to allow everything to rotate back all the way causing an increase of rou...

Re: Scan tool needed
Okay so I finally found some time to get back out to the garage and try and track down my problem. I let my car warm up to temp and put it in diagnostic mode. I set the TPS (checked with the fan trick), set the timing to 10 degrees, and tried the temp sensor and IAC trick. When I unplugged the temp ...

Re: Scan tool needed
After Ryan's post I was questioning the usefulness of my Chilton. I actually backed the idle screw all the way out so it is not affecting the throttle at all. Wanted to take that out of the equation. I will have to double check my vacuum system. I did not check the rear pcv last time I went through ...

Re: Scan tool needed
Thank you Ryan for your feedback. I have noticed through your other posts that you know a great amount about these cars. I will try and locate that information in the online manuals. As for adjusting the timing/idle I am assuming you are referencing the TPS. Correct? I only have had a chilton manual...

Re: Scan tool needed
Well the time came to start working on the car again and after some more tinkering on things I have had no luck of any change. I adjusted the TPS as close as I could get to chilton specs, ran with the IAC plugged in and unplugged (wiring harness), and the same for the coolant temp sensor. The only t...

Re: Trans speed sensor and TPS
Thanks mikeinaus I have a lead on one out of a MX-6 at a local junk yard. If that doesn't work I'll let you know. Will the speedo sensor out of a 2.5 MX-6 work in the probe tranny? I know the MX-3 and probe trannys are the same but what about the MX-6? Also my TPS only seems to read 5 volts when I t...

Re: Trans speed sensor and front valve cover gasket
Thanks for the info guys. At least now I have something to look for if I can find a salvage yard with a v6 probe or mx-3. They are getting pretty rare around central Minnesota.

Trans speed sensor and front valve cover gasket
I am looking for opinions on where to find a couple replacement parts. I am currently running a 97 probe KL-DE (manual trans) and am in need of a new transmission speed sensor and a front valve cover gasket. Does anyone know of a good place online to find these? I'm looking for a good quality gasket...
