Trans speed sensor and front valve cover gasket

Post by tbondo »

I am looking for opinions on where to find a couple replacement parts. I am currently running a 97 probe KL-DE (manual trans) and am in need of a new transmission speed sensor and a front valve cover gasket. Does anyone know of a good place online to find these? I'm looking for a good quality gasket. Thanks in advance for the help.

valve cover gasket, just go to any auto stores. There about $20-30. I've tried to buy the speed sensor online before. No luck. I ended up going to the junkyard and pulling a couple.

Transmission speed sensor I think is dealer only part. New is over $100 (not much over if you buy online parts dealer)
Part no G56317400
There is also an o-ring you might want to replace: 101117443

Maybe that is just motivation to search the salvage yards.

Thanks for the info guys. At least now I have something to look for if I can find a salvage yard with a v6 probe or mx-3. They are getting pretty rare around central Minnesota.

Thanks mikeinaus I have a lead on one out of a MX-6 at a local junk yard. If that doesn't work I'll let you know. Will the speedo sensor out of a 2.5 MX-6 work in the probe tranny? I know the MX-3 and probe trannys are the same but what about the MX-6? Also my TPS only seems to read 5 volts when I try to adjust it. Bad TPS? Thanks again guys.
