Please HELP! High idle/distributor...are they related

I have posted on this a few times now but have had absolutely no luck. When warm my car idles between 1500-2000 rpm. In diagnostic mode it idles fine around 1000. I have adjusted the timing, tps, checked sensors (new temp sensor, unplugged iac), checked vacuum leaks (shop did a smoke test and found no leaks), etc. Nothing seems to help. I also have a stutter issue under throttle when the car is warm. I have been told this could be my distributor going out or having issues. Can these two issues be related? As in could both be solved with a new distributor? I have tried a different throttle body, iac, tps combination and that did nothing. I'm getting to the end of my rope on the verge of considering selling if I can't find the solution quick. Please help.

Adjust your idle in diagnostic mode, also check and set your TPS, make sure your coolant is full.
