Re: K8 87 or 91 Octane?
I average 24MPG in the city and 30MPG on the highway on 87 octane. I just filled up on 91 and the car was really wanting to stall out and making little backfires all the time, I had to even retard my timing so it would stop predetonating and will likely have to change it back when I fill up on 87 ag...

Re: K8 87 or 91 Octane?
I personally wouldn't run 91. I have been having problems with my car not wanting to rev until after about 3,000 rpm and so I figured it might be spark related and that a higher octane might fix it. The car runs like crap now, I can't wait till I burn that fuel and for some reason I am hearing a bit...

Re: Car dies after a split second.
I recently bought a 1992 V6 as well and it had that problem when I bought it. It would start up and the engine would turn over a few times and then quit. I found out that it was a hole in the air intake on the plastic silencer part of it. If it's getting fuel and spark and not running then it's like...

Re: Air intake or cam sensor?
Hey Stablo, thanks for the suggestion. I bought the car about a month ago so I don't know the history of it. It looks as if there are brand new wires on the car so I never thought to check them out. We did how ever pull each plug off when the car was running and each one made a difference so we knew...

Re: Air intake or cam sensor?
I have done that before but nothing happened. My Check Engine Light isn't on to begin with so I get no error codes, so how do I know that I am in diagnostic mode? Also is it safe to start the car with those pins jumpered?
Thank you for the online manual link.

Air intake or cam sensor?
Here is my problem. When I give it gas it wants to stall out almost like it's being flooded, it only does this when I am hard on the gas and below 3,000rpm. We figured that it needed to have the timing advanced but when we changed the position of the distributor it did nothing. I know that leaks in ...

Re: Error codes
Ok someone is going to have to explain what CEL means and explain this "so you use and led on fen and b+ if you're obd2" What I did was hooked up the wire then put the key in and turned it to the ON and nothing happened. Sorry I'm pretty new to this whole computer operated car business, mo...

Error codes
I have a 1992 MX-3 GS and it seems to be having a problem accelerating below 3,000rpm. I did a bit of research and found that I could check the error codes through the diagnosis box under the hood. What it told me was to put a wire connecting the TEN (Test ENgine) and the GND pins and then turn the ...

MAF meter application
Hi, I just bought a 1992 MX3, There seems to be a problem with the Mass Air Flow meter on it though. When you really push on the gas it almost wants to stall out but if you gently accelerate it works fine. This problem however is really annoying in city driving conditions because gaps I would usuall...
