The previous owners of my car said that one day 5th gear just disappeared, it goes into gear but acts like its in neutral, no grinding or anything scary like that. I am thinking maybe the pin for the 5th gear shift fork may have sheared? Any suggestions as to what it is?
thanks

Your best bet would be to use a manual wiring harness and ECU from the year engine you are putting in.

There is a link to an online library data base in the aspire forums, they have pretty much every year make and model's info in there. Do you want a link to the thread? You don't need to be a member to access it.

Re: awd question
as long as you get the correct gear ratio (3.909) it will work, I don't know how efficient it will be though. I had planned on using a miata rear end for an awd swap for an aspire I had (BP'd and all), but I totaled it before I could finish

Re: Rust Repair tips.
I'm a driveway/shade tree mechanic myself, I just prefer it to being in a garage on a nice day. I think I am going to have to invest in a mig welder as well.

Re: Rust Repair tips.
that was what I was thinking, the lines look nice for making my own panels, and I'll just have my buddy weld it up, he's been welding for years, he built a nice '48 plymouth hemi coupe when he was 16, it was 1982 when old mopars were cheap.

Re: Rust Repair tips.
I would recommend welding in patch panels around the wheel wells, if its anything like NY winters the bondo will bubble and re-rust in one winter around the wheel wells. I am actually going to have to do the same thing to the 93 I am getting this weekend. My summer is going to be spent learning &quo...

I saw an Edelbrock sticker on a honduh once. I laughed so hard, then i talked to the guy and he had a carbed V8 under the hood! I almost messed my pants. It was a trailer queen though...

Re: WESTERN NY??
Hello I am new to the MX3, I am getting mine saturday! I have owned aspires for a few years now and have dabbled around with them. I have loved the MX3's since I saw my buddy's a few years ago. I'm from Cattaraugus county, NY. Any word on local junkyards that have any Black MX3's or any solid bodied...
