I'm in the Albany region, just outside of Saratoga.
Unfortunately I'm pulling my car off the road to strip it and part it out Need a source of funds for the other mx3 in my garage LOL.

Re: Ryan's Final Build
K8 Cams will not work AFAIK, and I believe they can not even be reground by colt because they are smaller.

It's too bad everyone in the mx3 community isn't closer. Powdercoated rims ftw.

Re: Help! Bottom end destruction?
Def. could be the oil pump. Would def think about getting the rotating assembly balanced if you're not going to run the harmonic balancer. Also, have you checked the S/C?

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
Sure $15 a piece sounds cheap, but these aren't SOHC 4 bangers. 4 valves per cylinder, 6 cyl x $15 and thats $360 for just retainers. More for springs, locks, etc. I'm not so sure you can use the ferrea retainers on stock parts. Retainers don't break very often on KLs. It's also one of those reliabi...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
Shouldn't need too much machine work as I have a low mileage KLZE I'll be stripping. I will be getting things balanced though. You need to look further into the guys blowing up engines. You're right its the ones trying to get the most out of them, but many of them are street racing, drag racing, and...

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
Ryan, I plan to have one of those "built" motors, but don't plan to spend 6k doing it, or blowing it up by being dumb either. The oiling problem I have been looking into extensively, but won't know for sure til I open my motor up. I will document everything I do. Steps to fix this so far a...

You probably just picked the best wheels you could have, but they're not cheap! They come in both 15" and 16".
Good luck!

Re: Ryan needs a soundboard for KL build
This is why we turbo. It's far easier/cheaper to make power.
You won't find 11:1 KL pistons for cheap. Custom = $800

Re: [GI] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
I would only like to sell things after I powdercoat them since I can get more $$ from them, and that will be my funding for my project build!
I will only have 2 VC's available (from a K8) and they will probably be $100-$150? + shipping for the 2. No core needed so you can sell your stock ones after.

Re: 15"/16" Wheels, favorite tires, Speedo/Odometer calibrat
Summer/Winter tires DO make that big of a difference. Better acceleration, better stopping, better turning..the only downside is cost. 2 Sets of tires will inevitably cost more than 1 set, and if you don't have a 2nd set of rims, you will have to pay to switch them over every season. Now there is a ...

Re: [GI] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
Nope, wouldn't need a replacement I don't think as I have 2 complete mx3's, the 1 of which I would be parting out in it's entirety. (Well, some parts from that, and the 94+ dash pieces from the other, etc).

Re: [GI] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
Yeah, ceramic coating only. High heat powders do exist but they're more for brakes. The oven should get to a high enough temp for ceramics, but then theres lots of polishing to do to make it look good.mitmaks wrote:You can't powdercoat headers, it'll just melt off

Re: [GII] Powdercoated Suspension, Mounts & Misc
could you do a subframe and trans cradle??? If so, I may be interested as I can make a trip. Trans cradle? I could do a whole subframe for sure, that's what I was planning on doing. I would be prepping the pieces for new bushings since I don't think the rubber will like the oven temps. Agai...
