Re: Where do I find the engine identification code?
Well after a little more reading, it appears I might be ok. I have a 95 mx-3 DOHC OBD-I engine. I found a few threads on here that say this is a newer BP engine and should be an even better fit since I have a 94+ mx-3. As usual though, there are mixed opinions on this forum. Can anyone confirm this?

Where do I find the engine identification code?
Hey everyone, I picked up my new BP for my mx-3 today. Its from a 96 Kia Sephia. I want to make sure I picked up the correct engine because I was getting there right as they were closing. I have looked all over the engine and the only stamp I can find is k247, which from what I can find is the cylin...

Re: Finally swapping a BP into my 95
Well I just got lucky on my first part towards the swap. I just logged on to ebay to see if any of those $100-$120 ecus were still listed so I could buy one. Then I see this newly listed one at the bottom for a BIN of $19.95 OBO. So I offer $15 and BOOM, I win :). So thats a nice start to all of thi...

Re: Finally swapping a BP into my 95
I will try to find the protege wiring harness. Unfortunately, the place I am getting the BP from only has the engine and no ECU or harness so I need to find them elsewhere. Also, I should note I have a DOHC (99% sure at least). Its dark right now and I don't feel like running out there to check it. ...

Re: Finally swapping a BP into my 95
Well I've read that the early 95's were OBDI. Wouldn't I have a diagnostic port if it were OBDII? I check my engine codes by jumping GND and TEN. That would indicate I not II right?

Finally swapping a BP into my 95
Hey everyone. I'm finally swapping a BP into my 95 mx-3. For the record, it is a OBD-I mx-3. I have read through the BP swap guide several times but am still uncertain about a couple of things. If I purchase the engine from a 94 protege with the ecu and wiring harness, will I still have to modify th...

Ongoing problem. Bad water pump?
Hey guys, so my car has been giving me a bunch of problems for the past couple months. Long story short...my car is leaking water from the drivers side radiator (not the hose). It only starts to leak once the car has fully heated up, I'm guessing from pressure buildup. So I removed my thermostat to ...

Considering a BP swap in my 95 mx-3
Hey guys, My car has been having a problems lately and at the very least I think it needs a new head gasket and valve cover gasket. Considering I could pick up a bp with half the amount of miles as my current engine for less then $200 more then a new head gasket, I thought I might as well put a bett...

Re: Problem starting and idleing
Well I popped off all of my spark plug wires today to see if there was any oil or anything down there. I just replaced the wires less then 2 weeks ago due to a faulty cylinder 3 wire. Well when I went to pull number 3 off again, the wire pulled apart and the bottom part was stuck in the cylinder aga...

Problem starting and idleing
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with my mx-3. First off I'm in FL and we are having an unusually cold winter this year that is bringing out lots of problems in our cars. So I was driving out to help my sister who had broken down on the side of the road when I noticed a strange noise coming f...

Fresh paint job. Black Pearl
Hey everyone! I had my car painted this weekend. It started out as a faded blue roll on job and now is a shiny black pearl :) Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I will get some good ones once I wet sand it and finish it off. Also, the door jambs will be painted on Wednesday along with another coa...

Re: A/C can't compete with Florida heat
Just checked my pressure yesterday. It is sitting right below 45psi so no problem there.
I am in the Orlando area.
