Stalls when oil filler cap is released

Hi,

I noticed by drive belt was squeaking, so was under the bonnet checking things, one thing I do is to take the oil cap off while running ( with some rag around to stop splashes ) to listen for noises/blowby etc.

When I took the cap off, the engine stalled. I tried again, and opening the cap ...

Rear brake caliper stuck on

Trying to fit new pads on the rear today - first time on this car.

I removed the 12mm bolt, but the caliper and pads would not shift .

Do I need to take off the 14mm bolts that hold the caliper to the hub ?

Online manual was not very helpful........

There is coolant temp unit, black plastic, on the bottom right of the throttle body. Has a black coolant hose connected it and the sit on the left.

The way I understand it to work is the ECU varies the map based on the signal from the coolant temp sensor for cold running, and the VAF tells the ECU ...

The mechanical gague is a real PITA to fit nicely. It uses a capillary copper tube instead of a wire to send the oil pressure to the dial. This locks together with a olive fitting.

Leaks from over tightning/under tightning are common, if you over tighten it it will break the oilve and then you ...

The Best Bulbs...bar none.

I am looking to uprate the headlight bulbs.

I have the European lights so already have glass and decent reflectors.

PIAA are now producing 80/80 bulbs that output 130 w of light.

I have used 100w bulbs in an 80w wiring loom in the past with no problems. Has anyone been brave enough to try ...

Its not the wattage you have to worry about, its the ampage draw causing a voltage drop which means more amps an more heat , which will burn things out if the fuses dont blow

Divide the RMS power rating of the amplifier by the amount of voltage your car's electrical system will produce — RMS ...

This is normally done by a custom gearbox shop by splitting the 5th gear into two gears to give a 6th. Weakens the gearbox, but not where it matters.

90mph ( cruising speed in UK ) is 5000rpm in 5th, I would love another gear.

I have been thinking the long ratio box from the Mx6 is a better ...

Buy a lower mileage one.

I went through all this with another car of mine, I ran it to 300,000 k and changed the suspension, bushes, mounts rod ends.

It was still *nothing* like a 50 or 70,000 mile version of the same age. I got it *close* to that feeling by doing a :

Full change of all rubber ...

I would be checking the accordian section of your intake manifold. Any cracks or leaks will stall the engine and cause lumpy idle.

Then pull the codes from the ECU.

Actually what this forum really needs is a K8/KLZE Troubleshooting flowchart.

http://www.cheapsportscar.net

Found a guy in the US with a guide to making a Lotus 7 type car with a Miata as a donor.

This is the route pretty much everyone in the UK takes if they want performance cheap.

You can get them down to 450 kg, which means a 150bhp bike engine gives 300/bhp per ton ...
