Bouncing Idle

Hi Guys,

Sometimes my idle bounces up and down, really wierd.



Other times the idle is perfect. I adjusted the timing, tps and idle screw not that long ago.
My cooling liquid is filled up nicely and the TB has been cleaned about 1000 km ago.

Any idea's?

Cut or disconnect the wire to the p/s pump near the RH timing cover.

Ensure that this wire is not touching vehicle's chassis (GND; -).

i'm pretty sure the solution would be to FIX the problem, not go cutting stuff on your harness...

if it does this only occasionally, does it go away if you give the accelerator a quick, sharp rev? it could be a sticky throttle body return lever. in which case it gets stuck slightly open, your engine is revving higher, and your ecu is trying to bring it back to where it's supposed to be. hence bouncing. should also make sure you have a little slack on your throttle cable for the same reason

I agree that I don't want to cut in the wire harness, but if I know what connector it should be I can just test the function.

Hi, im new to this forum, but I also have this same problem. I fixed it once by replacing my 1/4 spacer between my air intake and the throttle body. That fixed it for a little while, but when I pulled into a McDonalds and when into the dip in the drivethrough, my car bounced a little, and then the idle started rolling from 1000k to 1800k again....please help me figure out what is and help me fix it ASAP. Thank you

OK,,, it sounds like a Idle control sensor thing.... Check for coolant and for oil,
if it still does that then take the sensor off (it is bolted under the throttle body) and clean it. Measure the resistance with the ohm meter 1st...

As for the Power steering pump wire it is located on the P/S pump. ::)) WHen u open the hood, see a little reservoir with a long rubber hose that leads somewhat to the fire wall??? Well it connects to the pump, and the wire is right on top of that...

Question tho, WTF is that going to do anyway???? Its a ground, but for what????

I forgot to say that my fluids are always topped off, I check them everyday, and my idle screw is turned all the way down, so when my idle is not rolling, it sits around 13-1500k.
And I have no real mechanic skills, so anything you guys tell me to do, I will probably need a full explanation, diagrams and extra elbow grease to get it done...haha.

How about the hose between the pcv and intake?? Should it have a certain diameter?? That one has cracked a few times before.

as long as it fits snug, it should be fine. You don't want it to be coming off pcv valve or other end.
