KLZE TB

Post by jschrauwen »

Simple question here. What's the type/model# of the J-Spec TB for the KLZE engine? KL??

And for that matter, what's the VAF type/model#? KL??

Jap spec KLZE throttle body should be a KL31 stamp on it.

Jap spec K-series engines all used JE50 VAF's. KL02 VAF's were only used on American spec KL's.

lakersfan, just way too helpfull today :2thumbsup: many thanks
So as to be ready to install KL31 ECU, I'm going to source a JE50 VAF - would I still be OK with my KL68 TB or if a KL31 TB was available, would that be better choice/route to shoot for? Plus's and minus's of choice selection?

I'm guessing you didn't keep your K8 vaf? (which is the JE50 BTW)

I'm presuming KL68 is a American spec Millenia TB? Fill us in.

Unfortunately no (as he kicks himself in the a--). I left all that stuff at the place that installed the ZE. It's been near impossible to nail this guy down to track down all of those niggly things that were missed, overlooked and neglected. Besides, it's a 2.5 hour drive one way. I'm doin' the old, I shoulda, I shoulda, I shoulda dance.

So, should I stick with the KL68 or try to source a KL31 TB. BTW, I don't seem to see any signature profiles indicating a KL68 TB, and I'm not sure I should take that as a good or a bad thing. I have seen 67mm TB and a few KL31's, but no KL68's. :confused2:

OK Blue, so if I read you right, you've mixed up the 68 for 47 and that you're not familiar with the KL68 and what I've got is a phantom TB, interesting. :confused2:

OK, so I still not a 100% on the origins of a KL68 TB. No one seems to be able to nail this one down. The reason being is that I may have an opportunity at acquiring a KLZE TB which comes from a KLZE curved neck IM. Bearing in mind that I have a KL31 ECU on it's way already.
Would that TB be a KL31?
If it is a KL31, would that TB be a better choice over the KL68 and why?
What's the bore differences between the two TB's?

hey man I wanted to post back on this but forgot..I got my friend's klze tb here and mine (millenia) his has kl68 stamp on it and mine kl47.. :D
I also have a straight neck tb here. I'll have to check the number on it today.
so one things for sure you won't find anything bigger stock than your kl68 so keep it

Blue; OK, I think that clears things up a bit better. My KL68 TB is the J-Spec/KLZE TB from a curved neck IM. And you're saying that the KL47 TB comes from a Millennia IM? And you say that this (KL68) is the biggest OEM TB out there and that this will give me the best performance possible?

If all KL TB's are 60mm, what performance differences if any would apply to a KL31 TB over a KL47 TB over a KL68 TB. 3 60mm TB's...there must be a reason/purpose why Mazda made at least 3 variations of a 60mm TB. Am I reading too much into this? It's just that when I do something I like to do it right the first time and not have to piss around with it in the future.
