shifting problems
shifting problems
I just got a new clutch and now when I shift from first to second, second to third etc... it sorta grinds. Ill push the clutch all the way in and when i shift i can feel it sorta grinding like its not a bad grinding but it makes my spine quiver because it feels so bad and hurts to hear my car do things like that. It wasnt like this before the new clutch was installed. I read a post below and it recommended bleeding the clutch but i dont know if this will work for me because it was just installed. I hate it i cant stand even shifting. It doesnt do it when i shift without the clutch with the rpms. I try not to use the clutch lately because I hate hearing it grind or I double clutch to stop the grinding but it is not very convenient because if I ever plan to race it will be useless to try and double clutch slowly or without the clutch at all. someone help me.

Re: shifting problems
It sounds to me like some how you f-ed your syncros up. Not sure how...but that would be my guess.

Re: shifting problems
check/adjust your pedal height and/or free-play.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Re: shifting problems
pedal height is right and 30 mm of play on clutch
wtf is a syncro? lol thats probably the problem because now when I give it a shot of gas the shifter goes retarded and moves back like 2 inches its weird.

Re: shifting problems
The Shifter moving like you said it did, is most likely caused by bad motor mounts, or Tranny mounts. Your syncronizers(sp), are in the transmission its self, if they're messed up, you're looking at having to get it rebuilt. -Joe

Re: shifting problems
is it an aftermarket clutch? if so, your factory clutch line may be flexing. you might need to upgrade to stainless.

Re: shifting problems
A syncro is the "gear like mechanism" that matches the speed of the engine and wheel so you can shift without double clutching or grinding. Here is a page on how they work with the rest of the tranny...You will have to read tihs page and the next 2 to understand the entire process (the syncomesh page alone doesn cover the entire process).
The only thing I don't understand, how in hell would a new clutch make your sycnros stop working? In all likely hood it probibly these probibly arn't the problem, and for $$ sake, I surely hope they're not. But then again there is always that possibility.

Re: shifting problems
OK checked out the page and now i know what syncros are! THANX! i hope to got its not them either. Could it be where the garage had to take apart the tranny to put in the clutch they screwed up the syncros or tranny/motor mounts or something like that. please tell me its their fault
