Interprep Oil system specs

Post by [LVPA]93GsSe »

I looked around a bit and didn't see any good info on what they did for their builds. I found some info on probetalk but didn't wanna repost if it's already been on.

Says the guy that went to the site to pull info about a $5k motor build

@ 93GsSe: theres a reason that info hasnt been published much, most ppl dont have the funding to afford his work, and many that do are not willing to share that expensive knowledge so freely, cant say Ild blame them.

Sounds fair. I hear ya, I wish I could do it just to have the reliability. Jason on that forum, did post the info, tho idk how legit it is but it can't hurt to look in to it.

From what I read, aside from the pro work, it didn't seem as tho anything he did would be extremely hard for someone with some skill. I don't have much experience with machining but drilling galleys larger and plugging up the squirts, doesn't seem hard.

The bearing clearance and ring gaps are what I the least about but the removing of the tapers and squirts are what seem to be more the "easy" part. any opinions?

This is what I found

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

piston clearnace 0.003 0.003 0.003 0.003 0.003 0.003

ring end gap:
top ring .5mm .5mm .5mm .5mm .5mm .5mm
second ring .3mm .35mm .35mm .35mm .35mm .3mm

bearing
clearance

rod diameter 2.2053 2.2054 2.2054 2.2055 2.2054 2.2055
brg shells 0.1284 0.1285 0.1285 0.1285 0.1286 0.1285
crank pin 2.0747 2.0746 2.0747 2.0746 2.0745 2.0746
clear 0.0022 0.0023 0.0022 0.0024 0.0023 0.0024

main bore
diameter: 2.6389 2.6390 2.6387 2.6390
brg shells 0.2068 0.2068 0.2069 0.2069
crank 2.4290 2.4291 2.4290 2.4289
clear 0.0031 0.0031 0.0028 0.0032

I got it, all of the bearing clearances etc etc are there.. the info about the oil galleys and oil pump and oil squirters is not on the sheet but as alistair and i discussed already the oil galleys are just bored straight through meaning the taper has been taken out so they will flow better, oil pump was opened up on the output i believe to match the opening for it on the block and was also shimmed 3mm.. And to clear up some of the thoughts that shimming the oil pump decreased pump life according to alistair it doesnt affect the life of the pump.. Also, the oil squirters in the cylinders were plugged completely..

To be fair, I didn't go to the site... I had it saved in a word file with all of the images contained in that page. I document everything like that, because images stop being hosted, and threads with useful info on PT are buried in decade old rumor and nonsense... It's kind of a necessity, with these cars getting rarer and rarer. :(

Bolt-on is as far as 90% of people ever go, information like that is easy to lose...

Yeah I noticed the links kinda suck sometimes. I've been tryin to document too. That's probably all I'll do too for the time being too. I wanna go to college soon for Mech. Engineering and figured I'll just keep up on maintainence for now.
