Hardest thing I have ever done in my life

Post by grim760 »

Today, I set out on a mission to remove the dashboard from my mx3 so I could re-fiberglass it because the shop totally botched it. I thought it would take a few bolts and I'd be done. Oh no no. Mazda didn't want to make it that easy for me. There were so many pointless screws that were in the most impossible places that I almost gave up on er. After cutting up my hands and arms for two and a half hours, I finally got it out. And that was just the easy part.

If it's not done by the end of the week, I'll have no choice but to drive it. Stupid one week spring break.

I've seen plenty of dash removal/swaps. Everyone does it with the windshield in place.

Mine wasn't so bad.

the bad part was doing it 2x over because I needed to swap the dash harness as well (no cruise plugs).

that really depends on car. On my Charger you HAVE to take out glass to replace dash

I know the screws you are talking about and it's not that difficult if you know where all the bolts/screws are and have the right tool - a screwdriver shaped like an L. First time I did it, yeah it was difficult...

I have a little ratchet that fits those 1/2" long screwdriver bits :D I HAVE to use it to get that screw in the middle of the dash under the inner cowl.
