By Passing air con
hope i have selected the correct fourm area.
My mx3 is being converted into a track car, will be racing in the summer of 2011.
i could do with some advise on bypassing the aircon, i want to know if i could simply cap the ends of the pipes and or remove them from the rad and cap them without it impacting any other system.
i might have a good general knowlege of cars, but aircon remains a mistery to me.
thanks

i was hesitent to make a sandwich with the green stuff.
you have confirmed that it wont do my inereds any could.
would it still need to be blanked of at the rad.
perhaps i need to have a better look at the other end.

Drain the lines, remove the compressor, condenser, etc... I'm not sure where the evaporator sits, but I can only imagine it would be a PITA.

Re: By Passing air con
thanks, at the moment thats the least of its worries.
the cam belt has gone on it so should do that, but the engine smokes at high revs (black) so will change engine with other one. but aircon is now all out thanks.

Re: By Passing air con
get the refrigerant profesionallty removed, if its the old stuff that stuff can kill you literally, it amazes me how some people take a/c refigerant so nonchalantly. Its serious stuff, the older refrigerants are highly toxic and can seriously injure you if not outright kill you if you breathe that stuff in. The new stuff is not as toxic but it is still to be taken seriously, don't mess with it and don't take a chance with your safety or others, get it removed right. After that its simply remove all the components, hoses, evap, condenser etc.

Re: By Passing air con
Install a roof vent to blast air on you. I would carefully remove the entire system then sell it here. It must be worth $2-300 at least to someone who wants to chill in the summer.. If if't the older R12 the refridgerant destroys the ozone layer as well. 1 chlorine molecule in the refridgerant can destroy 100,000 ozone molecules. Bad stuff. (do I need spell check) lolmrswany2009 wrote:i would rather the exrtra speed and try and sweat out some of my fat, than put it back in lol

I know you believe that you understand what you think I said but I'm sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.
